How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewIt was very easy self-check in. They sent very explanatory information and videos on this subject. When we arrived at the facility, the air conditioning was on. All rooms were very clean. The kitchen and bathroom had everything we needed. I would especially like to thank Daniele, who responded immediately to all our questions and took great care of us.
The fact that the washing machine was located in a small cleaning room in the corridor outside the apartment created some difficulties.

Listing states 2 bedrooms, but the 2nd bedroom essentially fits the sleeper sofa and nothing else.

Verified reviewThe property was huge and very clean! Location was perfect; very close to a lot of things. Lastly, the staff were so helpful and accommodating! They allowed my pregnant wife and I to check in a little early with no hassle, and they allowed us to leave our bags at their office after check out while waiting for our train. We will definitely be staying with them the next time we’re in Milan!

Mosquitos , but that's a given..persistent rose sellers on the street and had to be careful on the two spiral staircases in the flat .

Verified reviewA charming street with many terraces, situated on the side of a canal. Within walking distance of the metro station. Plenty of coffee and tea are available. The coffee is delicious. The receptionist is very friendly and contacts you daily via WhatsApp to ask if you need help or advice. The self-check-in instructions are clearly filmed.
A very minor point to mention that didn't affect our stay. It rained heavily one evening, and I noticed a small puddle of water in the living room. It dried on its own within two hours.

There is no near parking. No elevators. We suffered to move our luggage from the street then to carry the luggage over the stairs. It was hard. The bed and pillows were not comfortable.

Verified reviewThe location in the Navigli was wonderful. It is a very nice area of Milan. It is very close to the Metro and we were able to take the Metro to the Duomo and La Scala. The espresso machine was great for the morning. The room was spacious and comfortable.
Finding the location and room proved a little difficult for us, although we found it eventually. The host was helpful with messages, but it was just hard to navigate. The didn't give us the directions and address ahead of time. We originally went to the location listed on the booking and it was 15 minutes away from the actual location. We had a car and parked at the train station. We ended up paying almost $100 for parking overnight. We misread the sign and didn't realize it would be that much. It would have been helpful have had a parking recommendation.

Verified reviewThe host was very approachable, the location was great for nearby walk to station or for walk down the canal. The property was clean and host had arranged for everything we asked for before check in. It’s a tram/train ride to Duomo. Also we found the location very lively and safe at night too especially as we travelled with kids.

Verified reviewThe apartment was well facilitated, it had a washing machine which was great
To start with we booked this stay because we thought we were getting a room on the canals(based off the photos in the advertisement). Once told the address we found we were given a property a few blocks away. We got to the address and found the building and location can only be described as dodgy. Once getting to the apartment we found it was relatively nice however after a couple of hours we noticed it smelled like gas in the kitchen. We contacted the manager and they sent a handyman out to look at the kitchen. We had left the patio door open so when they came the smell was not strong. The handyman had a Quick Look over it, deemed it as ‘safe’ and left. We closed the patio door and the door to the kitchen to seal off the area. Later when we checked the smell of gas was so strong you couldn’t go into the kitchen without covering your mouth. We mentioned this again to the property manager when we left that they need to check it because we were worried about the next guests and they completely ignored the comment and said wish you a nice trip… overall, not a pleasant stay.

If there had been a real danger, we would have immediately contacted the Fire Department. Fortunately, it was not a gas leak, but rather the normal odor that can be slightly perceived when turning on the hot water , a transitory and completely safe phenomenon. Since then, none of our guests have reported any similar problems, and we can guarantee that there is no risk. We are sincerely sorry that a fear, although understandable, has negatively affected your stay. Safety and timely assistance are absolute priorities for us, to ensure a peaceful and pleasant experience for all our guests. Regarding the area, we would like to point out that the apartment is located exactly as indicated in our ads: in the Navigli area, central, lively and appreciated by those visiting Milan. The accommodation overlooks one of the most renowned restaurants in the city, famous for its meat cuisine, certainly not in an dodgy area as you mentioned. We regret receiving a low rating, but we understand how a misunderstanding can affect the overall perception of the stay. We remain confident that, in the future, you will be able to have an experience more in line with the high standards that we offer every day in our apartments to our beloved guests.
