How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewOnly one small room, a very small room for such a number of guest. There was no place to put an extra bed. Everything is very old, definitely in need of renovation. There is a sauna, but what is it for, becouse it is very stuffy? Also full of mosquitoes. The price does not match the quality

Verified reviewClean and modern bathroom. Spacious room. Quiet place. When asked about city directions/ buses they were helpful.
Stayed there for 3 nights and there were so many mosquitos, woke up every day with many mosquito bites. Room was very hot, hotter than it was outside so we couldn’t sleep. They had 1 fan which did nothing and we requested another fan but nothing was given to us.

Verified reviewPrice is very reasonable. Location is perfect. Very close to ferry terminal or train station to get to Cinque terre and 5 minute walk to city centre. Europa car park is huge car park only minutes away from apartment, where we left our car when going on ferry to Cinque terre. Its very easy to find and owner communicated clealry to find the location.
We booked for 5 people but only had 4 beds. When checked with owner, we were told that its only a quadruple apartment. A folding bed was provided but there was literally no space to put the bed on floor. Basically it should have never booked for 5 people. Apartment was full of mosquitoes and only 1 small fan. When owner knows there are mosquitoes then there should be a few fans at least which would help to get them away. 1 small fan for 5 people is not adequate considering the heat and mosquitoes in the month of August. Bed was not in good shape. It had a dip in the middle on 1 side of bed. Which gives you the feeling of just gonna fall off it. Pictures don't do justice with the actual apartment. It looks very bright but actually its not like that.

Verified reviewAbsolutely nothing!
So very disappointed, this room was SCARY! The fact that it was in a office building alone was strange but then they made office space into bedrooms with very small narrow windows that opened to an interior courtyard that was dirty and unattractive. The lights were equal to floodlights that shined very bright on the bed. The furniture was like someone’s old house furniture and a closet that was filled with their own stuff and even if I wanted to hang anything (which I didn’t) there were no hangers. The bedding and towels were mix matched, old worn out and look like they were bought at a second hand store. The colors on the walls were dark and unappealing (dark pink with a dark blue ceiling). The doors had TWO GLASS PANELS on them and a tiny lock not conducive for safety, I slid the dresser in front of the door because of this. The bathroom in our room was beautiful, newly updated but little flies came up from the drain. The noises at night were unsettling. We were so unhappy and nervous that after check in at 3PM we locked our door and didn’t leave until morning. We couldn’t wait for morning to come. We are seniors and wanted to stay 1 night in La Spezia before heading to Cinque Terre . Some people said it was fine for one night but I wouldn’t stay 10 minutes here ever again.

If you dont prefer surrealistic locations, pick something else :) For one night stand it is fine ..

Verified reviewThis was a terrible experience . The space is cramped and weird. There’s no natural light- you wake up in a cave. There’s one window in a blocked corner that isn’t sealed. After 3 nights we were completely bitten up by mosquitoes. There’s hundreds of bites, including bites on my face. The toilet seat is coming off the hinges. It’s hard to fit into the shower. There’s no air except for an old oscillating fan. What I’m assuming was a maintenance person unlocked the door and entered our room one morning, which really scared us as two young women. The decor is really strange. The towels and sheets provided were old and tattered - they didn’t even provide 2 full size towels. There’s no spa as indicated. A big let down for the price.

Verified reviewQuiet, ok faciities, has everything you need for a few days.
The room is in the middle of a big building and there is no view from the window except a dark backyard / alley. The interior design was sort of strange. It is a bit far from the railway station but there are stops for several bus lines around the corner.
