How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Fabulous location, close to train station and a nice walk through garden to restaurants and shops. The recommendation restaurant, Terrazzo Palestro, fabulous food and wine list - booked by Hotel Manin reception staff. Highly recommend.

Lacks a bit of character but does the job - as does the neighbourhood. Cold coffee on breakfast.
Everything tidy and fresh. Very nice bar in the garden.

The hotel location is close to the Milano center with easy access to the Subway and trams to the city center or the central railway station. The hotel staff is very kind and supportive.

The breakfast was limited. There was not even one complementary bottle of water in the room. There were no basic toiletries such as body lotion.
The room was spacious and clean. Location very central, but very calm.

Pillows were hard. Breakfast replenishment not quick enough.

I have nothing to complain about whatsoever.
The room was very nice, clean, and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was very clean and the shower was spacious. The staff was very kind and friendly! The breakfast was great!

We did find the Reception staff a little sterile and overly business-like; as a hotel that caters to both business and leisure, we felt processed on arrival and again on departure. There was no welcoming smile with an accompanying “Welcome to the Hotel Manin”. And on departure, there was no “thank you for staying with us, we wish you a good journey home”, or similar. The other reason for a rating of 8 rather than 9, is a couple of small things that needed attention in the room, indicating that (perhaps) there is lack of protocols/processes for checking. Both were attended to immediately and staff were apologetic. We had a sense that the Hotel was running a little low on staffing - noted at peak times in Reception and also at Breakfast. One person on Reception for guest checkin / checkout can work fine but the staff need to be able to smile and look relaxed under pressure. This is a training issue.
Location is very good - reasonable walking distance from Milano Centrale as well as the centre and shopping district. I giardini pubblici (public gardens) is across the road and two museums are on the edges of these gardens (Natural History and Modern Art). Beds are very comfortable with good pillows. Bathroom space is good. Air Con ✅ Room space generous enough for two medium cases plus two backpacks. Hotel has a nice outdoor space at rear - a bar and dining area. A great way to end a long day of sightseeing with a drink and snacks and/or dinner (as we did). After 5 weeks of deciding places to eat, we were happy to eat in the Hotel. Hospitality staff were fantastic and welcoming - thank you all ! All of the cleaning and maintenance staff we encountered were very friendly and never failed to acknowledge us. We stayed 4 nights at the end of a 37 day journey around Italy.

Location, location, location! Near beautiful Brera and a 15min walk from Duomo. Quiet street, clean, comfy and modern rooms. Near bus and tram stration (public transport), also across the stop station of City sightseeing bus (Hop on hop off). If we return to Milano, we know where we will stay - Hotel Manin :)
