Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

DenmarkPizza night was not worth it, in my opinion, but the supermarket is very close and the kitchen is equipped with everything you need to cook your own meals if you want.
The best location and connection with public transportation. Amazing, friendly, attentive and caring staff that gave me the best tips about exploring all the cities and islands. Very clean and tidy.

RussiaIt’s a little bit pricey, but considering other options in La Spezia it’s okay.
It is very well located, not too far away from the train station and 30 mins walk from Flixbus stop. The rooms have very high ceilings, it helps with air circulation and is super nice. It’s clean and the stuff if super friendly. They give you recommendations and help with anything you need. Every night during the high season there are some activity happening in the common area (pizza night, wine party, etc.).

AustraliaLimited spaces to air clothing- would be useful if there was a clothes horse/ hanging rack to air out bathers / active wear.
Good location. Nice kitchen. Clean bathrooms. Clear labelling of things for shared use eg toiletries and food. Included small offering of breakfast items including coffee. Evening group activities offered including aperitivo and family dinners.

ItalyReview Excellent staff of the hostel! I got a lot of help during my stay! They were very kind to assist me in my goals, shared with me a lot information! That is amazing human-oriented attitude to guests :) If I was need help, the staff is nearby and ready to answer any queries! I’m very happy to meet so many great peole there! I had a great time in La Spezia! That is a winderful place! The rooms were very clean! The cleaning does every day! I got a service to keep my suitcase after doing check-out. The hostel has a kitchen that I utilized for every day cooking. Fridge, microwave, kitchenware are included. The building has an elevator. Usually, there is a hostel party in the evening. The bed was comfortable to sleep. There are small park, supermarkets, amazing yacht port around the hostel. I’m full of joy to have a chance to stay there! Thank you Malen and Giulia! You are amazing!

Please if you’re every in La Spezia book this place! The staff are excellent! Shout out to Gabriele for making me feel so welcomed! It’s about a 15-20 minute walk from the station! The rooms are clean, nice and the same for the bathrooms and you can are also able to only lock the shower so if need be someone can use the bathroom which is smart! They do a €1 Aperitivo every night also other fun pizza nights or pasta nights for only a few euros which I find amazing! I’d really recommend this place if you come to La Soezia! ☺️

CanadaThe overall facilities were clean, but even though we got our sheets in sealed plastic bags, we found many hairs in them. Also, the lockers are pretty small, they couldn’t fit our bags. Overall too expensive for what it is.
The location is amazing, right across the park from the water, and 15 min walk away from the train station that brings you to cinque terre. The staff was very sweet and gave us many recommendations only locals know about! They will definitely help you plan your stay there.

United Kingdom- It's a nice hostel but honestly, I thought it was overpriced. This was the most expensive hostel I stayed in several weeks. Typically other hostels were expensive because they were in a nice city. La Spezia isn't that nice a place and more a hub for visiting other nicer places so to me it felt a bit expensive for what I actually got.
- Clean, safe, relatively comfortable rooms. I saw some reviews mentioning street noise but to me the rooms were basically silent. - Bathrooms are good for a hostel, good shower pressure, well equipped, and it's nice they provide shower gel. - Well located for exploring Cinque Terre, just 15 mins walk from the station. Within La Spezia there's lots of restaurants nearby and the supermarket is a minute away. - I really liked the ferry to Porto Venere (15eur return), and it departs just a few mins from the hostel. - The hostel staff make an effort in the evenings.

United KingdomThe shower cubicles were very small and it was hard to dry yourself in there.
Property was super Centrale to La spezia and to get to all of the cinque terre towns. Malen was incredibly helpful and accommodating and gave me so many recommendations about where to go and what to do first. They do “family meals” each night too which is such a lovely way to meet people. I did not do these so cannot comment on food but it seemed very popular. Free WiFi there and lockers for your belongings. They also provided earplugs and hangers. I would stay again.
