The only good thing about this property is the location.

It is a long story. And it is starts with the reception that does not exist in reality. It is an imaginary creation that despairs in the moment you pay. We asked for assistance In the same moment we arrived as the AC was not working. They told us that they will restart it and immediately they disappeared. They stoped responding the messages and they ignored the calls. The room itself it was another story, hard to breathe because of the overuse of room fresheners that was there to cover other smell of God knows what. So we had a horrible night - No AC and poisoning smell. The toilet seat was broken and we could not open a window to deal with the heat and the smell. In the morning I got the message that it is not only our room without AC but there are other four rooms as well without AC, and imagine we all complained… It is August in Sicily… We made another mistake of booking with breakfast… a HUGE mistake. I have photos of that ‘special’ breakfast. They have small home made plastic bags of serials that are maybe dating from two years ago, two croissants and two bottles of water. The only good thing was the coffee that you can get anywhere. The highlight of this breakfast experience are the cartoon cups which you should use, while being in a restaurant full of glasses that are literally in front. When we asked for a refund the person responsible for the reception breakfast and everything in this guest house - it is not a hotel by any standard- laughed at me. My recommendation is to stay away from this place and not be fooled by the photos and the style of this place. I am writing this extensive comment to not allow anybody to be fooled from the lack of comments and experiences

ac was temporarily out of service due to a climate event, jist that night, anyway in modica is fresh at night, is mountain and nobody use normally ac.there is perfume in all hotel rooms of 4 stars, this a privilege not something to complain of, the breakfast is a normal breakfast as any other hotel, you complained about everything instead of appreciating the full central position, the beauty and unique of the palace thast is a real art palace, having payed less then a bed and breakfast. we suggest you to stay away from our hotel and all hotels and stay in your home and do all you like there.

I stayed here during my trip to Modica and really liked the location — it’s right in the center, on Umberto. All the main sights are close by, and there are plenty of cafés, bars, and shops around. There’s a tourist train that stops near the hotel, and we actually took a ride on it — it was a fun way to see the town. My room was cozy and I liked the interior. Everything was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was simple — just pastries and drinks, like a typical Italian breakfast — but it was enough for me. I’d definitely recommend this place if you want to explore Modica by foot and enjoy the local vibe.

Looking for something other? Best location on Modica’s Corso Umberto. Baroque building, and rooms and furnishing and all, truly of another age. Sgr Laura’s welcome was warm, our room very comfortable. It was a delight to be there.

Good location, but no staff on site, lady met us and was nice, then she prepared breakfast next morning

Room was cold, no way to heat it, no tooth mugs in bathroom. Odd window was shared with next room....

As a lover of historical buildings, the Grana Barocco Art Hotel & Spa in Modica was a dream come true. The location was perfect, and the interior design beautifully captured the essence of a Baroque palace. However, while the hotel offers a charming and historic setting, there are a few areas that could be improved

Firstly, there was some confusion with our room assignment, which could have been avoided with better communication among staff. Additionally, a basic understanding of English would be beneficial for future guests. Furthermore, the constant noise from construction work starting at 7 AM right next to our room was quite disruptive. While the hotel could benefit from offering a breakfast option, our biggest disappointment was the strong smell of fried food in our bathroom, which was likely due to the kitchen being located directly below. Despite attempts to mask the odor with air fresheners, it was quite unpleasant and even caused some discomfort. Overall, the Grana Barocco Art Hotel & Spa has the potential to be an exceptional experience. With a few improvements, such as better communication, a quieter environment, and attention to cleanliness, it could truly live up to its historic charm.

The hotel does not even remotely match the 4star criteria. Its a complete scam and I have documented everything properly. To protect other travelers, I will report the hotel to the tourism authorities.
