How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewOur stay was absolutely lovely! ☺️ 🏨 Gatto House is in a perfect location — everything was just a short walk away, which made our trip extra convenient. The breakfast was fantastic — tasty and varied, exactly what we needed to start the day with a smile. 😊 We would definitely come back again!
The only minor comment is that the room could use a little refreshing. But that didn’t affect our comfort or the overall positive impression. 💫
Thank you for your kind words. Kind regards.

Verified reviewThe best thing about this property was the location-in the very central area in Bari, walking distance to all major spots. However, I did struggle a lot to find a parking slot-it took me over 50 min to look for one (paid parkings were also fully booked). I felt mislead by the property initially, because on the web it's said they have a parking slot. It turn out to be just public areas. The breakfast was excellent-in a nice location, delicious and with good variety. Rooms were just very basics with nothing exceptional to make you feel cozy or to want to spend any time inside.
The listing that it offers free parking. Please, remove that! I would like to see some simple decor things to looks more welcoming.
Dear guest, regarding parking, please note that the booking page states that parking is available on the street in the blue parking spaces and is subject to a fee. We are sorry that you had difficulty finding a parking space, but this is common in all large cities. We have taken your suggestions into serious consideration.

Verified reviewRoom was OK. No wardrobes just hangers
The shower set needs to be changed as it leaks. Couldn't turn on TV set and couldn't change water in coffee machine. Since there are no staff around, couldn't ask for assistance.

Verified reviewGreat location and comfortable. There’s no reception or staff on-site, but they were quick at providing help over WhatsApp. The breakfast, served in the restaurant downstairs, was very nice and the staff really friendly.
There’s no key and you open doors with your phone (need to download their app). This can be problematic if your phone gets lost/stolen or you run out of data. My room (Rossa) was well equipped but didn’t have much light, only a skylight that Leads to the back of another building.

Verified reviewEverything was fabulous, amazing breakfast, comfortable bed, perfect room size, best location, close to Bari Vecchia, close to Bari Centrale, close to Port and Lungomare.
Only negative was the steps in the bathroom, slipped on floors and missed the step few times, potential for danger.

Verified reviewposition very good, a pleasant and comfortable room and bathroom, in a quiet position.
in the room there was no tea, and the first day no coffee. the food at breakfast was pretty poor quality there was no breakfast tea only green tea. the lift only went to the first floor and the room was on the second with some steep stairs when I arrived at the B and B the door to the room would not close with the code I had been given. By pure chance, there was a cleaning lady present who gave me some keys for the rest of my stay. When I was checking out I wanted to leave the keys and went to the gatto bianco restaurant but the man there refused to take the keys, I tried to leave them in the first floor mail box, but that was locked and none of my keys would open it, In the end I had to leave the keys in the room. I spent 20 minutes going up and down the stairs and to the restaurant, trying these options. It was very frustrating.

Verified reviewIt is near to the sea, and to central. You can walk everywhere from here. There was free water in the fridge, and coffee and tea too. Nice communication trough whats up. Breakfast was good in a restaurant. (ham, egg, salami, bread, jam, croissant, juice)
For me it was hard to get the internet codes to enter. There is no reception at all, so we store our lagguagge in the car. Parking was very expensive for us.

Verified reviewWhat went wrong ? how did we end up like this ?? we had just arrived in Bari by private transfer from Airport, OMG !! what a disaster - tried and exhausted our private driver dropped us in the street and that's when the fun began, others have also complained about this, (it was worse for us as I had not been monitoring my emails) the fact of it is, you have to download an App from Google or Apple and install it, then link their e mail to your app, it then gives you the access code etc and its fiddly, in Italian as well and we don't speak Italian, then you have to translate it yourself into ENGLISH then imagine your tired stuck in a busy street, outside, Be Aware THIS IS NOT A HOTEL ! its an unattended set of rooms, there are no staff there, and they want to communicate with you via WHASAPP !! many people have Whatsapp, however for personal reasons I do not use WHATSAPP.... that's where our problem was, we later found they had been trying to communicate with us via whatsapp, but we did not see any notifications in the end after 2 hours of messing about at the building with the worlds smallest lift, enough for one person and a suitcase, we gave up, and started roaming the streets looking for another hotel, in the end we saw the Hotel Boston about 5 minutes away, walked up to the hotel explained our problem to the reception (which I have reviewed here and reccomend) we then booked a room on Booking, and checked in, so I later complained to them online and they said you can cancel it, when I tried to cancel it, Booking.com said it was non cancellable, so we lost 2 nights stay and the money we had paid, it then cost us £200.00 for 2 nights stay at Hotel Boston, this is disgraceful, others finally managed to get in, and the rooms have been said to be ok, but we did not.
Everything, no staff, no reception, App generated check in no human beings never again.
