Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

HungaryThe whole hotel smelled really bad, it was dirty everywhere: on the stairs, the plates at breakfast, the cups, glasses. In the room the carpet was dirty and really old like 50 years old, the wall and the wardrobes were dirty as well. It was really uncomfortable, we couldn’t sleep well because of the worn out matresses, and the really thin walls entered all sounds and conversations from above and from the room neighbours. One of the worst was the bathroom, you cannot turn around yourself in the shower, the toilet seat was like 10 years old therefore it was dirty and chipped up. The beauty in it that it wasn’t cheap at all. The last thing i wanna mention is that we asked them about the parking, and they only told us about the garage for extra fee.

HungaryOn the morning of our departure, we asked if we could leave a small gift at reception for a friend we hadn’t been able to meet in person. She reluctantly agreed. However, an hour later, when I asked for a pen to write the recipient’s name on the package, she responded in an extremely dismissive and irritated manner. She waved her hands, saying she was busy working on the computer, and when we showed her the parcel, she raised her voice and asked, “What do we want to leave here, and for whom?” To make matters worse, she was unwilling or unable to respond in either English or German, and when I asked for her name, she told me, “Finish this – speak Italian.” Such behavior is entirely unacceptable toward guests. Misunderstandings or language barriers can certainly occur, but they can always be addressed with in a cultured tone, with patience and attention. This interaction showed none of those qualities and ultimately caused us to lose trust – so much so that we decided not to leave the gift at all. I have stayed at many hotels throughout my life, but I have never encountered such disrespectful treatment. I think it's important to emphasize: the trust and satisfaction of guests are the foundation of a hotel's reputation and operations. Even a single employee can seriously damage this if they do not adequately represent the institution's standards. I regret to write that my second visit was probably my last. I acknowledge the positives, but the treatment I experienced upon leaving left a deep impression on me. I trust that my comments will be received constructively and that due attention will be paid, especially to the human attitude, which is often more important than any convenience service, and to every detail of the guest experience - even including the last few minutes spent there. Kind regards, Klaudia Kelemenová
To the Management of Hotel Europa, I would like to share with you our experience during a recent 4-night stay at your hotel. I had visited Hotel Europa previously and, based on those pleasant memories, we chose it again as the place to spend our holiday. On the positive side, I truly appreciated the hotel’s excellent location – close to many points of interest – the beautiful terrace, and the variety and quality of the breakfast, especially the coffee. Our room was generally clean, although the walls were scratched and in need of maintenance. During booking, we specifically requested a double bed, which was confirmed in writing. However, upon arrival, we found two separate beds with uncomfortable mattresses, which was a disappointment. At breakfast, the spoons for the coffee were constantly missing and had to be requested – a small detail, but one that matters in a hotel of this standard. Most of the staff were kind and helpful. Unfortunately, our overall impression was significantly affected by the conduct of one particular receptionist – an older blonde „lady” with glasses – whose behavior we found unacceptable. She appeared visibly irritated whenever we asked a question or placed a simple order, such as for a lemonade.

United KingdomThe parking was atrocious and I would recommend anyone with a car bigger than a mid size to forget it. I had a ford kuga and it took me 15mins to park in the underground car park as it is that tight. It took me the same amount of time coming out also and needed people to watch my every move. The beds were uncomfortable. The shower handset head popped off when the shower was turned up fully and water went everywhere. I told reception but they did nothing about it. The fridge in the room was pretty poor also.
The breakfast was good.

SloveniaThe only negative thing is the noise you could hear from other rooms. The walls are not thick at all, so you could hear all the conversations and noise. Which wasn't really relaxing... In case you are a light sleeper, take your earplugs with you.

SloveniaThe hotel was not working at all. We booked a room and asked for a parking spot. I have received a message that the property can arrange this for us. However, the hotel was not even open. There was a sign at the locked door that all the guests are moved to another hotel. As they had my number, email, and booking info, I at least expected a notice about that. I think it is extremely unprofessional. We were moved to Hotel Rialto, which was nice though.
