How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewYou could not be in a better location! The accommodations were lovely, and the room was spacious. There was abundant sunlight in the mornings. I was thankful for the AC unit for when it got warm in the afternoons. The breakfast spread was plentiful. The room was serviced a few times during our stay which was appreciated and a good number of towels were provided.
There was nothing about that property which I would critique. The building was authentic and had historic charm.

Verified reviewWhat a fabulous place! Very clean, well decorated and our hosts were very welcoming and helpful. The breakfasts were perfect (delicious cappuccino:) and the AC was a welcomed accommodation after a day of sightseeing in a very hot city. Our location was amazing- colosseum was right around the corner and lots of restaurants from which to choose. I loved the old building with an amazing, huge door! Thank you for a wonderful stay!

We got more of a hostel vibe (with private room though) than B&B. Being a vacation place it was a lot of hassle to answer a questionaire each day for breakfast, which in return was quite low quality (like you'd purchase basic ingredients in supermarket). We probably just had too high expectations, cause I'm convinced many other would be content with this place
Dear Simone, thank you so much for your precious time spent reviewing our property, however it is important for us to clarify some details so that guests who intend to book are not confused. We are so sorry that you were not able to try our real breakfast, the one that takes place from 8 to 10 in the morning in our common area. Yes, because while reviewing our conversations on Booking.com I remembered that you always left the room very early, before 8am and therefore you took advantage of our undue service of breakfast box, some packaged snacks and fruit juice for those who do not have the opportunity to take advantage of our breakfast service where hot croissants from the oven, coffee and other freshly prepared drinks are served together with bread, butter, marmelades, yogurt, cereals, etc. This is confirmed by other reviews which define our breakfast as excellent. We also want to make it clear that we are not a hostel, to which you have compared us, but a B&B, a private house that hosts guests who choose to stay in this type of accommodation in its 3 rooms, we have never claimed to be like a hotel but our rooms all have a private bathroom in the room, air conditioning, wi-fi, flat screen TV, soundproofing from the outside... I don't think that all these features are available in a hostel, I want to underline this because I care to make our future guests understand where they will be staying. We are also sorry that waiting for you after the permitted check-in time which allows for arrival by 8pm (while it was almost midnight when you arrived) did not have a positive effect on your review. This is not encouraging for our work. Last question: the form that our guests must fill out to order breakfast. We established this service during the covid pandemic, when we had to bring breakfast to our guests' rooms. All our guests appreciate this service and we have decided to maintain it because we have noticed a notable decrease in food waste as each host orders what they want and if they don't have breakfast they don't order and we don't have to prepare excess food and then have to throw it away, this is a sustainability policy that is appreciated by many Booking guests and by the company itself and we are sorry that it has not met with your approval. Verified reviewThe shower area is just okay for us (we are 5'6 under 150 lbs). The bidet is nice to have for some people but we didn't use it. I think it just take up room of the bathroom. Overall it is very nice apartment and the owners were very nice couple, easy and helpful.

All you want in a B and B. We recommend it as its location makes it super simple to walk to or take the subway to every sites in Rome. Bravo!

Verified reviewGreat location ,close to the Colosseum lot of options of restaurants nearby. We really liked the old building and a plus is that it has an elevator. Despite the busy loud street the room was very quiet. The room was well equipped with mini fridge, electric kettle with cups and an air conditioner. Very nice and friendly host, they served a good breakfast.
