Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SlovakiaThe only minor downside was the shower cabin, which was a bit worn and required some care to avoid water spilling into the bathroom.
We really enjoyed our stay here! The location on the hill with on-site parking was very convenient. From the accommodation, you can take a bus to Riomaggiore and then a train to explore the beautiful Cinque Terre villages. We bought discounted tickets directly at the property, and the host even gave us a map, bus timetable, and explained everything clearly. Thanks to that, we ended up discovering much more than we originally planned. The host was fantastic – he spoke English very well, responded quickly to our messages, was friendly, and even recommended local wines which he had available for purchase. Breakfast in the form of a buffet was delicious and filling. For some, the location might seem less convenient since the property is up on a hill along the road. However, we found the quiet setting, the tasty wine, and the breathtaking sea view to be the perfect retreat after the busy crowds of Riomaggiore. Overall, this was a wonderful experience, and we would gladly stay here again.

United KingdomThe hotel is clearly quite old and underused. It was very quiet but it seemed like there was only one member of staff working.
The view was breathtaking! High on the cliffs over the sea. It was also a good location for getting a bus into Riomaggiore

United KingdomThis lovely hotel needs a lift. There are too many stairs. Bathroom is too small.
The manager was excellent. He gave us great advice about getting down into Riomaggiore on the shuttle bus, and told us about the hop on/ hop off train for the Cinque Terra region. The view from our balcony was amazing. Breakfast was very good. Thank you for the gluten free products for breakfast.

United KingdomIf this is a deluxe room I hate to think what a standard room is like. Shower cubicle had a door missing and water pressure was very low.
Amazing view from the balcony.

FranceNothing really. A bit isolated, there are dining options close by but really need to drive for dinner.
Wonderful sea views. Clean, comfortable and modern room. Excellent breakfast. Friendly and attentive owner. Easy parking - which is rare for Cinque Terre region.

MoroccoThis place is perfect especially if you have a car. Right before you get to Riomaggore from la Spezia. It has plenty of parking which can be a problem if you stay in one of the 5 villages. If you don't have a car, there is a bus stop only 15 metres away. It would feel isolated though if you don't have your own vehicle. Staff are helpful and it's family owned We loved that it's a 5min drive to Biassa which had small shops and restaurants.

LuxembourgWe were at the last floor and there were 73 steps we had to do each time, as there is no lift. With the luggage it is really hard.
The room we had was old and the bed was not comfortable. But the view is fantastic. It is a great location to start visiting Cinque Terre.

United StatesThe views from the hotel are awesome. David the owner is awesome, take his advice when visiting Cinque Terre. The breakfast was very good. Only issue was our room was an older room, the room was tired and needing updating. The owner told us he is remodeling all the rooms, some have already been done. Ask for a remodeled room

AustraliaThere's steps - it comes with the location. Watch out for the bus times, there are some longer waits at certain times. We paid for a taxi back rather than wait.
The hotel cascades down the hillside with a wonderful view over the nearby coast and the mediterranean making for amazing mornings and evenings. Good breakfast, with that same wonderful view. The local bus service made getting down into the village quick and stress free. Plenty of parking available.

FranceThe hotel is quite noisy, making it difficult to sleep in if you want to rest longer in the morning. The property is a bit outdated, and unfortunately, it is not very well served by public transport. We had planned to take the 4 p.m. bus from Riomaggiore to return, but it was full, and the next one wasn’t until 6 p.m. As a result, we had to take a taxi, which cost us an additional 20€. (If you have knee problems, be aware that everything is accessible only by stairs).
The hotel had a breathtaking view, and the staff was very friendly as well.
