Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaDonnaberarda was a beautiful home. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, it has all you need for your stay. The views are incredible and the location was great. We had a fabulous time in Cortona, it is a beautiful and hidden gem in Tuscany!

United StatesThe website photos were a little confusing about what features were in what places, and nothing mentioned the walk/or drive to the apartment (reviews were a little clearer about this). No paper towels, and not enough toilet paper (see previous about getting to and from the apartment). Nothing that would make me angry, but should be noted.
What is better than breathtaking views of the valley from every window of our apartment? The location of our place gave us the chance to see the surrounding area, while having pretty easy access to Cortona. Comfortable rooms, spacious, very nice!

United StatesProperty is great. If you need groceries, get them before you head up the hill.
Beautiful view. Very clean and a great host. Met us down the hill and had us follow him to the house. Would love to come back.

United StatesIt is on a steep hill so walking to it was a bit of a challenge, but not the owner's fault! And of course, the steep climb is what resulted in the great view. I would just say that someone with mobility issues would not like the walk to this apartment.
Donnaberarda was a great location for us to visit our daughter who is studying for the semester at UGA Cortona. The apartment was large and clean and had everything we needed. The views from the bedrooms and back balcony were unbeatable. We enjoyed watching the sunset with a glass of wine each night. We loved how close it was to the main streets and squares and were able to walk to all the Cortona sites, restaurants and market. Paolo met us to let us in and was very friendly and responsive.

United KingdomThe accommodation was superb, with spacious high ceiling rooms and balcony with panoramic views to Lake Trasimeno and beyond. It is well placed for the access to Cortona and there is free car park literally a two minute walk further up the hill from the accommodation. The walk to the accommodation is steep from the Via Nazionale, and your heart is well exercised especially after dinner or lunch at one the many restaurants available. Highly recommended.

Gorgeous Tuscan view out of the bedrooms, living room and terrace. Big kitchen, well equipped. 2 bathrooms, one with shower one bath tub. Washer in bathroom which worked well. Drying rack for clothes. It is a bit of a climb to get to it, but your in Cortona. Almost anywhere you go there is a climb. The climb is well worth it. The apartment is flat but there are stairs leading up to it from the street. Paolo went the extra mile with his service. Would rent again in a minute.

United StatesWe liked it all, even though the distance to and the accessibility of the train station was not convenient. We knew this beforehand, but be prepared for the very hilly cobble-stoned streets of Cortona; some are not for the faint of heart. Just take it easy going up and down...
Our experience at Donaberarda was exceptional. Paola sent a taxi (driven/owned by Angelo - definitely worth the 20 euros) to pick us up at the Camucia-Cortona train station. He also arranged for our taxi for our return to the station when when we departed for Florence. We recommend this as the best option for access to the train station to and from the apartment. The walk is probably not a good choice due to the lack of sidewalks, the narrow streets, and the uphill nature of the terrain from the station. We walked everywhere (about 170 miles) in Italy for a month, but we were happy that we did take a taxi in Cortona. Paola was very welcoming and showed us which keys to use to access the building and the apartment. He then gave us a thorough tour of the apartment and its amenities. The spacious kitchen contained everything we needed to prepare meals and coffee. One exception: the corkscrew was broken, most likely by a previous guest. The view from the terrace/patio overlooking the valley and Lake Trasimeno in the distance was spectacular and awe-inspiring. The bedrooms were large and comfortable with sensational window views of the valley below. There were two excellent, spotlessly clean bathrooms. We would highly recommend the Donnaberarda apartment, and Cortona with its ample selection of restaurants and shops. Definitely, one of the top three (out of eight) lodgings we had during our 28-day trip. Thank you, Paola, for providing such a grand apartment and hospitality.

United StatesThe walk to the center piazza was a bit steep (more than we hoped for having two elderly people with us. The shower is way too small. The tub is a nice size, but not convenient to wash in without getting water all over the floor. The walk to the piazza was longer than we expected. We tried to find a place that was a little more level to the piazza level.
The view was amazing! The kitchen was well stocked. It was a quiet location.

United KingdomWe were met and had a car so followed the owner to the house. It was quite a difficult drive through the narrow streets and it might have been easier to meet in carpark outside town and transfer luggage and one of us to the owner's car to go to the property. Shared the shower rather than taking a bath in the second bathroom, although it would have been fine if you like baths too! It would be helpful to supply coffee filters for the coffee maker. It took a while to find some to buy. OUr bad luck but the car was vandalised when we parked it up beyond the house (night 1) and we had to get the wipers replace. But the town otherwise seemed very friendly.
Wonderful views and terrace in front of the entrance. Well equipped kitchen and all the rooms were very nice. The town is lovely and it was possible to walk to the centre and the restaurants although we also enjoyed cooking at home. It suited us very well as a base for also visiting Arezzo and Perugia. The owners were very helpful before we arrived and met us on arrival to take us to the house and explain how it all worked.
