Locagion, super view, silcence, super mega spacious room, i reiterate the view :)) 3 places you can use for breakfast or to just enjoy the view and drink/eat something For sure would return if in the area. Ferry is very close to both ports There is also a beach at the bottom of the road The road is twisty, but it is worth it Some awesome restaurant nearby, but coming back to the location, if you did not manage to buy somehing from the city, they have a great "Honesty bar" with a great selection of things

The room was very clean and beautiful! Very nice bathroom and comfortable bed. Nice view from the windows! The breakfast was fabulous and the staff very helpful and kind! The hotel was very quite and with a beautiful garden with tables. The parking also was very good and with door that closes at night.

Missing air condtion. However, it is was unusually hot when we were there. Make sure you follow directions given by the hotel management to get there. Google leads you along a verry narrow road with tight turns you will not be able to follow with a small SUV without backing up in the turns.

Excetional piece of architechture in a perfect setting above the lake como. Perfect breakfast with everything on the buffet. Very good restaurant with fancy local food in walking distance.

The road to the hotel is quite steep and small. But the hotel provides helpful instructions to get there and go around.

Very far from "everything" - it's way up a hill - follow her directions NOT Google Maps (which will frustrate you as the Google map road is wicked switchbacks

The downsize of the location is that the shorter road to Varenna is very narrow, so we took the longer road and then a bit far from the town Mattress was not very comfort

Our room was very comfortable and had everything we needed for our 2 night stay. We liked being close to Varenna, but away from the crowds. The view of the lake from our window was gorgeous!

The road to the hotel is hard to drive in

Everything was perfect!

Small, italian hotel, with a beautiful view at the Como Lake - really good place, near Varenna (which is the one of the very well known places, with ferry transfer to Menaggio and Bellagio)

We absolutely loved to stay at the Crotto di Gittana! The car ride up from the sea was a bit scary/exciting due to all the sharp curves and the narrow road but the reward when we got up to the hotel was fantastic! The lady in the reception was extremely friendly, and the view from our hotel room and from the different terraces was simply breathtaking. We brought our own parmesan, prosciutto and wine, and just loved sitting on the terrace the whole evening, taking in the extremely beautiful environment until the sun set. Great breakfast! Note: take the upper road through Perledo when driving to the hotel, that way the road will be a bit less curvy!

Without car it could be not so easy get to the lake (Varenna).

We drove to the property and access is tricky. Really windy narrow streets with super tight hairpin turns and tricky negotiations when faced with oncoming traffic. The route Google tells you to go is definitely not recommended - pay close attention to the detailed instructions the hosts send you. Taking Via alla Cava Alta is the more manageable route. Also, the room got a bit hot overnight (our trip was in early July). There didn’t seem to be air con unfortunately though there is a fan which is somewhat noisy. Not too bad and totally manageable for our 2 night stay. Opening the window helped a lot. You do have to plan out your eating out as it’s not too close to restaurants. There are one or two in Gittana which is around 10 mins walk up the hill, and there are some more at the lake front which would be around 15 mins down the hill. The hosts provided some great dining suggestions too.

The view of Lake Como is absolutely incredible from the room we had - Camera Bianca. It was a really peaceful spot up on the hill. The room was spacious and clean. The hosts were super responsive and helpful. Parking was spacious and secure.
