Absolutely stunning eccentric castle in a magical valley. The green room is gorgeous and full of history, the bathroom gave me the most exquisite showering experience of my life. Breakfast is lovely with homemade bread and fresh eggs from the chickens and ducks on the property. The pool is absolutely perfect with a view over the Tuscan hills. Overall a very special experience, highly recommend!

The apartment is amazing. Rooms are warm, quiet and dark enough to get a good sleep. I like romanesque castles. This hotel looks like castles in loire valley in France. The decoration reveals the Middle Ages in many ways, which fulfills my imagination of living in an ancient castle. There seems to be more activities in summer. I hope to come back and have more interesting experiences in this hotel next time. Recommended to my friend~

Difficult to say, I enjoyed a lot the place!

Breakfast was simple but adequate. Location was beautiful, a deep dive in Tuscan history and culture, all blended with excellent wine! Owners have been providing a warm and friendly welcome

We would have appreeciated a nice hot breakfast with local produce. We would have like to have some proper cosmetics in the room not just the forgotten ones from the before guests. Also when we arrived we did not exactly know how to do the check in or where.. and they did not had the key to our room (they searched for it for a few hours and then they found it) and the room was not ready when we arrived (at the check in hour). You only find out about the histroy of the castle if you do the wine tasting. Maybe a little brochure would be nice in each room.. No clear directions for the pool, we had to ask someone where it is. It is not a luxury experince but an authentic one.

It was a great experience to be able to stay in the castle and the vineyard and the pool were amazing.

Amazing location with a breathtaking view of the surrounding hills with the borghi on their top , especially now in the cold season where snow covered the vineyards and the Mount Amiata slopes. A great pleasure and inspiration to meet the owner Charlotte who gave new life to the castle her family acquired with elegance and respect of its original beauty. Hopefully will make it back with the whole family again in spring!

Omg this place is a hidden gem. Rustic and huge interiors. Have got everything you need. Short Driving distance to local towns. The host and family running the place is amazing. Local produce, they make own wines, forging mushrooms. Every night there was high end entertainment in the castle, what seemed like a private parties, we have been invited to join on each occasion regardless.

We felt the breakfast could have been more substantial and more choice, considering there was nowhere else to go nearby. There was no drinks for children or adults like me who do not like hot drinks. WE also found the lack of affordable local transport a problem

The Castello was set in a beautiful location and was full of history. I would have liked longer to explore it. The swimming pool was excellent and the adults and children in my party really enjoyed it. They also enjoyed the dogs.

The property was dusty, the access to and from the property was hard work, the bathroom had a bird nested in the pipes and the rooms were hot with a small fan. The breakfast was a sham! Breakfast consisted of access to a kitchen where there was one loaf of bread to help yourself to (this is between about the 20 staying guests), a bottle of milk in the fridge, some rather sad looking fruit and a random apple tart which remained untouched throughout the stay. God forbid you wanted a glass of juice or water, if you did you would have to make the 10 minute drive to the nearest coop along a real life Mario kart style dirt track! The host just pointed guests in the direction of their rooms, wished you well and left you to figure it out. Also, the dogs once told to stand down were pleasant, but offered a rather intimidating greeting on each return to the property.

The swimming pool was an added benefit (although it was freezing, at the top of a steep track and the sun loungers were wooden planks and extremely uncomfortable).

Considering the cost of our stay, there were a few disappointing aspects that should be improved (we stayed at various B&B and hotels in Italy so we are aware of the standard). - The breakfast, self serviced, did not have fresh bread or pastries, but packaged ones instead. We would also expect to jave fruit jams, cheese, juice and eggs, but we could not find these in the kitchen, and we could not find anyone at the reception to ask about them. - The bedrooms at night were too hot, which made it hard to sleep. We did open the windows once the sun got down and use the provided fan. Still, the rest of the house was so hot that it prevented our room from getting cooler. Such could be easily mitigated if the hosts did not keep the windows closed. Overall, we felt that better attention to the guests should be provided.

Great view of the vineyards and surroundings, from a historical building beautifully furnished, including the bedrooms, bathrooms, and corridors. The swimming pool was excellent and had stunning views to the vineyards and olive trees. This is a great place to go if you're looking for a quiet place surrounded by vineyards in Tuscany..

The lack of enough heat, decorating, &, more importantly, the beds. 2 of the three beds were literally made of straw. My adult daughters tried to sleep on them & ultimately spent a restless night on the old couches in the sitting area. One might feel compelled to justify the use of straw beds & lack of sufficient heat as an attempt to make the stay an “authentic castle experience” but this seems hardly likely when other elements, such as the mismatched poorly mended 30-year-old couches, did not stick to this theme & the rooms contained newer but barely warm radiators. I might also add that my daughters are not delicate pansies, both have spent time sleeping outdoors yet they found it impossible to sleep there. The owner has published a large book filled with many color photos which she proudly leaves out for guests of a luxurious castle she previously renovated entitled: “Castello di Potentino: A Tuscan Adventure. The Restoration of a Castle”. This only serves to accentuate the huge disparity between what the guest expected and what they received. For those who are already familiar with this book, do not expect that experience here. If the owner is attempting to recreate what she accomplished at Castello di Potentino, I recommend that she not rent out unfinished, randomly & cheaply furnished areas & turn on the heat.

The castle was lovely & we were given a very large space that included a sitting area, kitchenette, & dining area. The owner has put a great deal of effort & money into the structure.
