How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWe enjoyed the location so close to the ruins, museum and shopping. The tub was a nice relaxing switch from our travels. The communication was good.
The air conditioning was not on. It was remote control but would not work. I had to ask them to turn it on. The next day when we left, there was a cleaning lady on the steps 10 minutes before checkout time prompting us to finish packing soon.
Dear Daphne, we apologize for the inconvenience with the remote control, which we promptly resolved with control via application. As for the cleaning lady, I spoke to her to make sure of what happened. There must have been a misunderstanding, unfortunately she does not speak English and certainly she was not understood well. In any case, I am very sorry, welcoming and hospitality is the first rule for us, and the fact that my guests had problems in this regard is a bad blow for me. Come back and visit us, we will show you that it was really just a misunderstanding!

Verified reviewBeautiful apartment. Very well presented. Super communication from Philomena. There is a set of steep narrow steps to enter the apartment. Very comfortable bed. The shower had good pressure, but was very small. Philomena was extremely helpful - even let us leave our bags at the cafe while we went to the archaeological site.
It was a real pleasure for me to host kind and polite people like you. I hope to see you again one day!

Verified reviewThe location was great, right near the ruins and restaurants. The check in was easy and we had help on the stairs with our bags.
We did pick the least expensive room, but it was on the attic level with very low ceiling and only one window that we could open. If we had ever had to get out of the room in an emergency and couldn't use the stairs, we would have been trapped. Maybe because we were off season, but we had to walk into town for our breakfast, which was pretty good.

Verified reviewThe rooms were lovely and decorated to a very high spec. The location was perfect for visiting Paestum, we could not have been closer. There are a number of restaurants within a few minutes walk and the service and quality of food at Bar Anna for breakfast was superb.
I would have given Case Rubini a 5 star rating if it has not been for the noise (which I discovered seems to be a regular occurance). The loud music from the bar across the road went on until midnight/1am and then to make matters worse there must have been a party/rave nearby as there were lots of noisy young people walking by regularly until about 4 or 5am. Considering that Casa Rubini is in a very rural location, this was most unexpected. If you come here, do bring ear plugs!

Verified reviewReally nice room. Spacious and very clean. Very good position just a few minutes walk from sea front. Fresh coffee, juice croissant for breakfast down in bar below. Very comfortable bed. A lift. Easy check in and out.
No kettle so no cup of tea at the beginning or the end of the day. Noisy at night. Upstairs from very busy bar. From Thursday to Sunday nights inclusive.
Thank you very much Malcom for your positive feedback. However, we are sorry that you were unable to locate the kettle, present in every room and placed right under the tray with the cups and our selection of teas and herbal teas. It was an immense pleasure to have you as our guests!

Verified reviewThe room was very comfortable and large. The place was very pleasing, the towels were large and absorbent, the sheets and covers comfortable for the temperature, and the room temperature and air quality was good. I thought the renovation of the building was perfect blend of comfort without losing the authenic feel of the building. It was nice that we had a parking lot close to businesses so we felt our car was safe. The breakfast was at Bar Anna and the pastries were the best pastries we ate while in Italy. The location of the property is ideal for seeing the Greek/Roman ruins and the museum. There are several restaurants very close. Filomena, our contact, was easy to communicate with and very helpful.
It was a pleasure Mr Larry to host and assist you!

Verified reviewThe location is perfect, within easy walking distance to the archeological park. The house is beautiful and the rooms are pleasant and comfortable, with all the amenities - boiler for making tea, a mini-bar, hair dryer, nice toiletries. The only unpleasant feature is the Tavernelle restaurant across the street, which is in fact a bar/club with extremely loud music from about 8:00 p.m. to very late at night.
Thank you Doina for your kind words: we are very attentive to the needs of our guests and we like to ensure that, during their stay at Casa Rubini, they have all the comforts available. It was a pleasure to host you, come back and visit us!

The stairs to the room but that wasn’t a deal breaker at all.
We are happy to have helped make your trip special. Having had guests with your kindness is an immense privilege for us. Thank you!

Verified reviewLocation was excellent within a short walk to the archaeological park with the Greek temples and plenty of places for drinks and dinner. The rooms are modern and very clean. We had some issues with the initial room but the staff was amazing in resolving our issues and accommodating. Highly recommend for a short stay to see the amazing ancient Greek temples.
Thank you Rita for your kind words, we are very happy that, beyond the small unexpected events that unfortunately can happen, you appreciated our way of resolving and still managed to enjoy your stay. Come back and visit us when you are back in Paestum, we are waiting for you!

Verified reviewClose, cozy, jacuzzi, all the toiletry equipment were present.
The room was a little smaller than I believed, but the deal breaker for me was the lack of vent in the bathroom. Given the absence of a ventilation system.
Dear Antonio, in addition to there being numerous photos of our rooms, the actual dimensions are also declared and in the bathroom there is a window which, although small, allows for excellent air exchange. However, we are pleased that you appreciated our services and look forward to seeing you again to be able to accommodate you in a larger room. Come back and visit us!

Verified reviewLocation was exceptional with proximity to the Archaeological National Park & Museum. Free Parking was perfectly situated next to the breakfast restaurant too. We loved dining at Antiche Mura & wine bar. We were so happy that we stayed an extra night! Room had well appointed amenities. Ease of check-in, extended stay too with friendly staff at reception, parking attendants, & Bar Anna.
If you bring heavy luggage you will not like the stairs, but those who travel light will easily navigate the beautiful accommodations.
It was a real pleasure to have you as our welcome guests. Many thanks!
