An unforgettable 2 days! Casa Ferri offers the chance to stay in an authentic cave dwelling and explore the incredible Sassi which lies all around you. Our host was incredibly kind and informative. He helped us find a parking place nearby ( we had been worried about arriving by car in Matera but no need) and he gave us a brief history of the area as well as recommendations for restaurants and hotels. We will be back!

It can smell slightly damp which is expected from a cave house. Just turn on the ventilation for a few minutes.

Nothing. It was perfect!

The caves were incredible. They were the perfect mix of modern interior while maintaining the beautiful cave structure. The location was also perfect just on the side of the Sassi so people with mobility issues do not have to deal with long sets of stairs. We can’t recommend this place enough! The owner is also a history buff and told us all about the history of the property.

Wonderful cave room in the heart of Matera! Had such a warm welcome and given an impromptu history and discussion of local area, which just showed how passionate the area is to locals. We loved the cave room which was spacious and tastefully decorated; in a clean and modern style. Shower was lovely and the towels were so soft. Bed is very comfortable and slept well with no noise disturbance. Matera is most beautiful city and this room was in keeping with that. Highly recommend.

No couch to sit. Just a table . Parking 5 mins walk away in paid car park 25 Euro a day

I loved the cave ! It was fantastic . It was very spacious . There were 4 adults . Double bed and two singles. One bathroom . Tea and coffee . Fridge . Great air conditioning. The position is perfect. At the top of the sassi so you can go down into the sassi or onto main area of shops and restaurants

We liked everything. Lovely host, he was completely amazing and attended all of our needs, nothing was too much. Great location and near all of the attractions we could ask for. We had the most wonderful time, made all the better by sleeping in a cave and greeting our host.

It being a cave means there isn’t something like a terrace or similar - but of course Matera provides penty of such public places

Absolutely loved it! Overall the vibe of this cave apartment was lovely including facilities, aesthetics, size, comfort of the pillows, bed and that it's very centrally located makes this place ideal for anyone on a holiday. In addition, Simona (the one who checked me in) and Anna (the owner) were so understanding, kind and helpful throughout my stay. They will go above and beyond to fulfil your needs. Highly recommend!

My cave was huge, well laid out and provisioned. Simona was so very kind and caring and nothing was a bother for her. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and looked forward to getting back to such a special place after walking the Sassi all day.
