Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThere are a couple of points which could be improved: - Communication: The host kept asking for the city tax before he gave us the code for keys; I did mention to him that I will pay him once I reach the property the mere 4 Euros, but he made my life hell with to and fro messages at 10 PM in an unsafe location. - Cleanliness: Too many hair in the bathroom and the other room was stinking - Location: Most unsafe location in the night time in Turin full of addicts and asylum seekers; in Day its comparatively safe - You have to walk up to 4th floor which can be tiring
The bedroom was cosy, there were balconies for air ventilation; Kitchen was equipped with all the things you need to stay;

CroatiaThe shared bathroom was very narrow, the shower was very small and slippery. The door lock to the room I was sharing did not work. I was advised by the police to not leave my motorcycle in the area due to night crime.
It is well located in relation to the city. It's cheap. The bed was comfortable. There are kitchen facilities.

SpainI don’t understand how a place like this is even allowed on the platform. The apartment was in terrible condition — people coming in and out all night, ringing the bell, unstable electricity, water leaking everywhere when it rained, and people smoking marijuana in the living room. I honestly don’t trust Booking anymore. Better to book through Airbnb — it feels much safer.
Honestly, nothing. Maybe the price was low, but even that doesn’t make up for how bad the experience was. I’d honestly recommend sleeping at the airport or even a train station rather than staying there.

ItalyFor check in, owner sent an instruction which was useless since the entrance door was closed and we tried to message him through sms or WhatsApp or booking app or call him for while, he wasn’t responding at all, not for us , nor for other that came for check in, even one guy came for check in and after seeing the room he just left fully unsatisfied. Additionally, as we left the room in morning of 2nd day for walking around city, we left some of our stuff at room and locked the room. When we came back in evening, the door was open, someone was sleeping in our bed, and after we checked our stuff, there were some items missing which the owner responded as it’s not his responsibility since it’s shared place, it’s total lack of excuses. The room had 2 beds and 2 people booked it so it’s not a shared place with rest of the house. If you choose a place to stay, you expect a safe place which this place is disappointing in many levels and it’s more expensive than a hostel. If this is your last option go for a more eligible hostels

BrazilIt’s the worst place I’ve ever been in my life as a traveler. It’s far from the city center and then by googling I found out it is located in one of the most dangerous areas of Torino. The owner was very unhelpful, I arrived at 15h for the check-in and I needed to wait OUTSIDE until someone from the building could open!!! Me and the other guest stayed more than 20 minutes on the street because the door was closed, and we just got in when a woman who lived there arrived at her house and opened to us (she’s not related to the staff or anything). After that, the keys were broken and we needed to wait for them to make a copy, so we lost one day of our trip because we couldn’t get out without the keys and risking to get locked out again! To make everything worst, the host tried to buy my review on booking for €5 discount on my next stay for a “10 review” on booking!!!

RussiaThe owner is angry all the time and when I asked nicely about cheking in earlier instead of explaining me nicely he closed the phone on my face also when it was time to check in he delayed the to give me the code on purpose cuz I just asked him if he can be more nicer and I waited more than 20 min to enter if I'm a solo traveler and to all solo travelers avoid this kind of place who dosent value you as guest and ruin your mood to travel and also he asking me after all this to give him good reviews and says I will get 5€ discount.

EcuadorNothing worked, the light in my room was turning on and off randomly, I couldn’t flush the water in the bathroom plus it wasn’t clean, my bed wasn’t clean either. There were two people that received me and gave me my keys, for my surprise they were staying in the apartment but different room. The big surprise was when I came back at night, I found two people in my room and one in my bedroom. They showed me that they indeed booked the room through booking. The owner was very unresponsive.

Italy- the kettle wasn't working - the behavior of another guest
The good value made me happy with my stay. The facilities in general were not new but efficient, so the house is warm in winter and I could sleep well by closing the shutters in the bedroom. Convenient public transport.

Czech RepublicI shared a room with someone who probably lived there permanently. I didn't have a good feeling about this person. The room is located in an area that isn't safe. During my stay, it was guarded by the army and police. I had a brief conversation with the police, and they recommended that I find another place to stay. Prefer a nearby hostel instead.
The condition of the room matched the photos.

PortugalA horrible experience. As someone said in the reviews, I wouldn't wish my worst enemy to stay at this place. It's a shame to propose a bed in a shared room at this price! This kind of accommodation shouldn't be offered on Booking. First of all, despite the instructions sent by Whatsapp, it was not very clear, which room I was supposed to be in. Generally, I don't like when the owner doesn't welcome you in person, but I decided to make an exception this time and it was not a good idea... The room was dirty and very messy, and the sheet on the bed didn't seem to be clean (I slept in my sleeping bag). The shared areas (bathroom and kitchen) were also extremely dirty and messy. No Internet connection in the apartment. And not to mention the neighborhood. It's not very far from the centre, but the street was so dirty... I don't recommend anyone to stay in this flat, unless you want your stay in Torino to be spoiled...
Absolutely nothing!

SpainAlthough I advised about my late arrival time which the host agreed to, I had to wait more than half an hour after midnight in the streets until some neighbor let me in. Just to find a flat full of people and a bed which was not made but potentially used before. There were two more people sleeping in my room plus a dog, smoking and loud techno music in the morning from the roomies included. I couldn’t get out of this place quick enough as unfortunately after 1am in the morning I had no other option than staying there for the night.
Everything was totally wrong about this place. I booked a double room, not just a bed and was told on the day of my arrival that I had to share the room. Nowhere in the description it was said that it’s a shared room. It even promised a private bathroom which in the end was a shared one with everyone living in this apartment. This is what it is - a shabby apartment which is dirty and unorganized and which is being rented out bed to bed for travelers.

GermanyAttention! You shouldn’t sleep here as a Women or a solo traveler! You have to share the apartment with complete strangers and at our stay it was an really weird old man and we were two young woman feeling really uncomfortable. We booked two beds in one room but they wanted us to sleep separately with one strange guy in the room. One bed is right in the kitchen. The communication was really bad. The accommodations were okay but I don‘t recommend if you’re not comfortable with sleeping in the same apartment with strangers. It’s just about making the most possible money without caring for the guests
