Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PolandMany things were distroyed, for ex. cabinet in toilet, entrance door. We also got another room we booked with much worse window view, but anyway we stayed there just one night. We got breakfast for free, so that was nice compensation, even though the breakfast was very simple.
Location, very nice personel

BrazilIt seems that it's a Small Hotel Network in only one advertisement. So, when I got the address, I couldn't find the place; there was no metal plate, nothing. I had to call the phone number on the advertisement to try to understand that. They gave me a different address to go to, called Canal Hotel, close to the place advertised. We left our luggage there because check-in would not be until the afternoon, after 3 PM. Then, when we went back from our sightseeing, we were moved to another hotel, called Hotel Walter or Water. So, those places were different from the pictures we saw in the advertisement. The pictures didn't match the advertisement. It wasn't a good experience.
The view of our room was amazing.

South AfricaWe were directed by a small note on the door of Ca'dei Polo to the reception of Hotel Canal and Walter around the corner. Surprise! This hotel is where we booked originally only for them to cancel the booking a few months ago with no reason given. It seems that they have renovations going on and shifts people from the one location to the next as they please. Quite confusing.
Good location. Luggage storage space available

CanadaOn late arrival from UK (around midnight) I had instructions to check in (had pre-booked weeks in advance) at the mother hotel on the Grand Canal, but there the clerk was not clear where I should be staying that night! Then I was sent to the locked-up hotel annex building quite a way down the street, but had difficulty operating the gate entry panel in the dark. Walked back to the main hotel, with the clerk having to come back with me to the annex to buzz me into a deserted lobby (no night staff reception on duty.) Suggestion 1: a night light be placed over the gate entry panel to the annex entry door, making it easier for first time arrivals at Ca' Polo hotel late at night to get into the building. Suggestion 2: provide an "in situ" night shift staff for reception duty as Ca' Doro seemed to be thriving with full house occupancy. The erratic part-time and only daytime in-house annex reception facilities seemed rather confusing. (My experience as of May 2025).
Nice clean small room in an interesting historic "palazzo", a new annex to the main hotel, in an excellent location near to Piazza di Roma, train station and the Grand Canal. Charming views over a green courtyard garden. Breakfast (in a third building) excellent with a good selection of items nicely presented, attentive and polite staff. One day when sitting in the lobby of the main hotel (not where I was staying ) my credit card slipped out of my pocket and fell down a side crack in the lobby chair. Did not see this so reported the card lost or stolen. But a friendly hotel employee John had found it and put the the card in safety, and on checked out he connected me to the name to the card and returned it to me unused.T his employee is to be commended for his honesty, grazie mille, John.! The young part-time desk receptionist in the Ca' Polo annex was also very helpful in this matter.

LithuaniaThe property, house and furniture is very old , not sure if the price-quality balance was good. They have 2 receptions and I didnt like the main reception, it was awkward. Also, the shower-head in my room was broken. Check-in was in another building...
The staff was friendly and helpful, they offered me 2 rooms and I could choose which one I want for the same price. I received a large double room instead of a small single room. I liked the view from the window. Cleaning lady was cleaning rooms daily, which was nice, however I am not sure if needed

United KingdomThe bed was great, however, the sofa bed was so thin that you could feel every bar and spring. Really uncomfortable for a teenager of the age of 14. Also checking wasn’t amazing. You have to check in at a separate location which is not the address on booking.com . Even the address on booking.com for the hotel is in correct. It’s states 203 which is not right so we had to call for instructions on how to check in which is in fact at another hotel 200m down the road which is not clearly signed posted.
We love the location of the room, the actual room itself was fantastic for the size. And we had a full floor to ourselves with a rooftop terrace.

CanadaNot much to complain here. All was great. I would like to see the hotel have body wash as well as shampoo in the bathroom to use. There were a lot of shower caps in the room but no body wash.
Everything was great about the property. Close to train station which was very helpful. Central to all areas. View from the room was great. Rooftop area was wonderful giving added views. Elevator was a bonus.

CanadaWe were not able too check in until 3 hours after the advertised check in time and had the front desk worker originally tell us only an hour for us to come back later and find out it still wasn’t ready. Definitely was a negative and unprofessional experience at this hotel. They did not offer us any sort of compensation for this and were not very helpful. I’m not one to write negative reviews but it was hard not too feel annoyed after this whole experience.

We got free breakfast as our original room was not available because of some floding problems. In general the room was okay, the matresses and pillows were fine. There wad also a bathtub, which was unexpected. There were also some drinks in the room to grab.

United KingdomBathroom in desperate need of refurbishment - the bath tub had a poorly done silicone job around the bath which made it look a bit gross, but in all honesty it was clean, it just needs a bit of updating :)
We were moved from Ca’ Dei Polo to the Hotel Canal, however I was informed of this 24 hours prior to check-in so went straight to Hotel Canal. I think this is something the hotel consistently does as I’ve read it in almost every review so was expecting this before I got the message. Don’t know why they do this but personally, I loved the room we were given - it was directly in front of the Grand Canal, but because the room had wooden shutters and a window, all the noise was blocked out and was virtually silent when we were sleeping which was great. Lots of amenities provided - slippers, bath towel and hand towel, bath mat, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shower cap, and shampoo and body wash. I was not expecting that! The room did have A/C but it was rather ineffective, however a very modern fan was provided which was almost silent, so that in combination with the A/C made for a great nights sleep. Great location too, especially if you arrive by train like we did.

United StatesAn early check in would have been nice. Also we didn’t receive any check in instructions and by the time we found it- it was locked with the note to go to Hotel Canal to check in. Had that been in the instructions- it would have saved us some time and energy. We did enjoy the rooms, but I think the hotel could do a better job of explaining where the actual place is located.
The rooms were very beautiful and comfortable. We were able to store our luggage. 1/3 rooms had a fridge, which we needed. Beautiful location and close to the train station (be careful with the address though because Google took us all over Venice before we found it.
