Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNothing.
Was nice and quiet, still plenty of good restaurants and bars for a few nights. 15 min bus into the Taormina, with the bus stop a 2 minute walk away. Owner very helpful setting up excursions and was contactable 24/7.

RomaniaIt is an extraordinary location, with a breathtaking view! It is an extraordinarily beautiful experience even arriving at the location! From the base of the mountain to the room! The host is very welcoming, although we didn't even meet, she was very nice with the check-in at one o'clock after midnight, the room was cleaned every day and everything felt wonderful! I highly recommend it!

AustriaThe interior is very simple and a bit dated which doesn't matter at alll as it is about the location and the lovely terrace.
great communication, easy check-in, view was magnificent - we highly recommend booking the one-bedroom suite as it has a magnificent huge terrace overlooking the bay with great Etna views. We stayed for 5 nights and started every day with a hike up the mountain, followed by breakfast at San Giorgio Bar. The stay in Castelmola couldn't have been any better.

United KingdomThere was a kitchen area within each room but some equipment needed updating , replacing. eg sparse tea/coffee making tools. The only member of staff we met was whilst collecting breakfast vouchers ( office reception in street to rear ) on the first morning of our stay, this was had at a café at entrance to town 70 yards or so away, and consisted of a croissant and a drink. Any extra to be paid for.
After 'scary' drive up to town we were met with lovely sight of surrounding countryside views of coast, coastal towns and villages and Etna. Quaint little hilltop location with narrow streets etc. A good choice of restaurants/ bars etc. Accommodation was clean and tidy , Contact with host staff all amenable and friendly by text/Whats app.

Rooms were very big, with a very nice verandah overlooking the town of Town of Taormina, and excellent views of Mount Etna.

NetherlandsThe drive up to Castelmola is not for the faint of heart. It is a very touristic little village. Parking (just below the entrance square) is expensive. It is impossible to drive up to the accommodation, so be prepared to haul up your luggage on foot over sharply rising streets and alleys.
Accommodation in beautiful little village with excellent views on the whole area including Taormina and Etna. With a bit of neck turning even good views from our window. Kitchenette in our spacious room, hidden behind folding door. Medieval theme kind of cute.

Australia- parking is 11.50 euro for 24 hrs, or 24 euro for 3 days, close to the main square . - the rooms could be better stocked: e.g coffee available in the kitchenette to go w the perculator and S&P as a minimum. (Breakfast is 5 euros), - our room was ground level so we couldn't really open our window or doors without ppl looking straight into us and our room
' very friendly and helpful staff - beautiful location, there is a medieval walking path down to taoromina which takes 15 to 20 mins, much better than bus or driving. It took us 30 mins back up - it's tricky w a car and finding the accom w windy paths (anywhere in castelmora) but very worth it for the location - loved having a kitchenette with stove top - v comfortable medieval style room - cold water fountain down the road in the main square

United StatesWithout the buses and the tours picking you up at Piazza San Antonio, I could see how that hilltop location could be a challenge for some. It wasn’t for me.
Balcony views of Etna on one end and steps away from Piazza Chiesa Madre on the other, which offers cafes, gelato, and Bar Turrisi. Even the bus stop at Piazza San Antonio has amazing views. Excursion picked me up and dropped me off, which was convenient. Absolutely idyllic!

RomaniaThe shower is a little too small, not a big issue for us but for some heavier persons could be. For parking we had some doubts regarding the payment, once we paid 10 euro, as it was supposed to be the payment for entire day, the ticket came out printed: it is valit until 3 o’clock in the morning!
Excellent position with a splendid view. There might be different rooms but this one was great. One bedroom suit with a nice terrace, right in the middle of the small city of Castelmole
