How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWe loved the beautiful location. It was lovely to have the complimentary breakfast in the garden with such a stunning view. The room was perfect for the two of us, we appreciated the extra treats left for us in the fridge and especially the basket of treats delivered every morning by our kind host. We will definitely return.
Absolutely nothing. Couldn't fault anything.

Verified reviewWe spent a wonderful week here and highly recommend this apartment for a longer stay. Every day, our host Raffaella brought us fresh bread and croissants from a local bakery. The apartment was very clean, the view from the room was outstanding, but most importantly, we felt amazing there thanks to Raffaella ♥️ She was very caring and hospitable, and made us feel at home. The location was perfect – right in the center of the old town, where you can experience everything you expect from Italy: beautiful streets, old buildings, and delicious local food. We would love to come back here one day. We highly recommend it!

Verified reviewThe proprietors are very kind and the location is gorgeous. The room is very pretty and so is the garden. Everything is squeaky clean and the proprietors met us and explained everything Just a tip, if you have heavy luggage, its better to take a taxi instead of taking the bus. The streets are cobbled and it's a hilly road.

Verified reviewI had a wonderful stay at this charming B&B in Bergamo! The location is perfect, just a few minutes' walk from Bergamo Alta, making it easy to explore the historic city. The room was beautifully decorated, with attention to every detail, and the view from the cozy garden was absolutely stunning. A special thank you to Raffaella and her brother, who were incredibly kind and welcoming — they truly made us feel at home from the very first moment. Highly recommended!

Verified reviewIt was our second time here - it says everything. :) Pietro is a very kind host, breakfast fresh and tasty, the place like a fairytale with beautiful view. Quiet, close to the old town and to the airport bus.
Maybe needs some update compared to 2018. In the garden a small terrace with roof could be nice, beacuse on rainy days you cannot use and enjoy the amazing outside area at all. :( Check in is always little bit complicated, it you don't know the exact time of arrival.

Verified reviewA lovely place-easy to reach the main points on foot. The hosts were very nice and helpful. Fresh bread from the bakery each morning. For us, it was very exciting to enjoy the company of the rat in the garden's bushes late in the evening or even in the morning as we're not afraid of them.
No internet access. It's not very convenient to boil the water in the microwave, having a kettle could have made the situation better. One of the chairs in the small front garden wasn't comfortable to sit.

Verified reviewVery good location to explore the entire historical district easy access to highest vantage point in town, close to bus connection to both Railway Station and airport, very friendly and pleasant owners and charming room with private garden area with a panoramic view on the main city bellow. Very clean, well though over breakfast arrangements and solutions in place for potential unexpected challenges related to insects etc.

Verified reviewThe location of the B&B was quiet but convenient. We came by train and utilized the public bus to come to Città Alta, then walked to the B&B. It was no problem. The room had beautiful views and was a very comfortable accommodation with everything you could ask for. Our host, Pietro, was very helpful and welcoming. The room was very well appointed. The eco toiletries were very nice, along with the slippers provided. Having a refrigerator in the room was an added helpful bonus as well. The breakfast was fresh and plentiful. Such a delight! The garden was a pleasure to sit in for its view but also its privacy. Being in Città Alta was like entering a fairtale. We look forward to our next visit and stay at Bed and breakfast Saint Erasmus Bergamo.
We were very pleased with this charming B&B and have no complaints or criticism.

Verified reviewThe contact with the accommodation was easy and the instructions very helpful. The check in went smooth. Due to a delayed flight, we arrived a bit late, but it was no problem. The room is spotless, and the view is amazing. Also, the breakfast was much appreciated. It is located in a beautiful part of town with nice restaurants nearby.

We would have preferred natural yogurt and sugar free fruit juice but these were only minor things.

Verified reviewRafaella, the host, is wonderful! Provided excellent information and a map of the old city, great restaurant recommendations, and all pertinent info for the room. She delivered a croissant of our choice and roll each morning to our room at our selected breakfast time. She also provided ham and cheese, water, milk, and yogurt in the refrigerator. The room was equipped with an espresso maker and could boil water for tea. The views from the room are beautiful.
While the breakfast was very nice, we wish we had more choice in what was provided. For example, plain yogurt, different bread selection, fruit, muesli, and the ability to make cappuccino.
