How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Position was brilliant! Room was comfortable with a small fridge, perfect to store water bottles. The host, Francesca was very informative with local information. Breakfast was very generous.

The apartment is located right in the center of Matera. The host is very kind and welcoming. The apartment is comfortable and well-equipped — there’s a kitchen, a coffee machine, a hair dryer, and even shower caps. It’s perfect for a short stay. There’s also a small magical garden nearby, and breakfast at a nearby café-bar is included.

Wi-Fi is a bit weak.
The room is cozy and nicely decorated. The breakfast is very good. Francesca is very responsive and helps us a lot.

Everything was great.
Ideal location, right in the old part of town, flat equipped with everything you need. Very good contact with the owner. In the morning we were woken up by the smell of baked goods from a nearby café. Highly recommended!

The flat is impeccably clean and very cozy .It is really close to the city centre and the Sassi district.The breakfast is delicious and more than enough.Francesca is really nice and helpful.If we had had the chance,we'd have stayed for longer. I definitely recommend this place.

A very good location, just steps from the main square and the old Sassi area. Francesca was very helpful and friendly. We were allowed keep our bags there for a while after our check out. The room was clean,well equipped and the bed comfortable. The Breakfast is in the bar next door at its more than enough. Thank you Francesca for all - advises, help with finding good restaurant for the night :))

The location was great and so clean. Easy access to everything, solid breakfast. Francesca was so nice and accommodated all our needs even if we stayed only one night. We also loved the "book theme" of the facility.

I am a Genius Level 3 VIP with Booking which means I use them a lot, I have to say this is one of the best lodgings we have stayed at. The owner meets you at the property, which we appreciate the personal touch, she was very kind and helpful. The apartment was very clean and has everything you need. The location is what set it apart, you were only like 50 feet from a main Piazza but felt like you were on a side street far away from it and was very quiet, it was amazing really.

The rooms might be a bit small for a few people but for me it was fine!
Location is great, directly in the centre! Breakfast is outside around the corner in a cafetaria. With a voucher I got two pieces which I could select and in addition a coffee. The owner was very friendly and supportive!

Francesca`s Bed and Book was just perfect. Very Clean, superb as location - right at middle of the city, but hiding in a small street so it is quiet and cozy. The rooms are very convenient and large enough for couples, staying 1-3 nights. The Breakfast is in the bar next door at its more than enough - thank you Francesca for all - advises, help with finding good restaurant for the night and being so sunny :))

A very good location, just steps from the main square and the old Sassi area. Francesca was very helpful and friendly. We were allowed early check in and could keep our bags there for awhile after our check out. The room was well equipped and the bed comfortable. The breakfast voucher for the cafe next door was more than adequate. You could get your pick of 2 high quality pastries/croissants loaded with different flavours as well as your pick of a coffee/espresso drink. Value for money was good compared to other places.

The host is super friendly, the location is super central and the rooms are super cute. It was a nice place to come back to after exploring Matera for a day. I’m definitely staying here again.
