How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe location! We parked first and navigated via maps.me easily . Quick trip back to car to get bags. Outside was an awesome bar we had a few cold ones . Vibe was great. Room was small but great. Kettle and small fridge. Friday night noise but double glazing was in place
Don’t try to drive there .Once we stopped driving it was easy to find.

Verified reviewIdeally located on a tiny square with the couple of restaurants and cafes. Less than 10 minutes walk to Piazza Unità d'Italia. We had a bigger room which was located around the corner from the main building. Extremely clean, ice cold air conditioning, solid internet connection, recently remodeled modem bathroom. Room was surprisingly large. We were running a little late and were not going to arrive before the reception closes at 8pm. Andrea waited for us, assisted with the check-in, and took us to our room. Excellent hospitality! We will definitely stay here again next time we are in Trieste.

Verified reviewBeautiful, clean, cozy hotel. Worth to stay and enjoy the heart of the city. Good solution with the parking. We left car in recommended parking place and paid approx. 20 Eur for all 1 day. So we didn’t worry about the car and could enjoy all day walking in the city.
Too nice to stay for so short trip. Really great environment. Okay - one minus, but it’s the charm of hotel - creaky wooden stairs. However it is so beautiful that all if forgivable. Of course there is no lift so the third floor is challenging.

Verified reviewAll great, just a heads up - the shower is a little clogged as the water accumulates (room 21) and maybe invest in a new hairdryer :)

Verified reviewThe rooms are too small, you can hear everything when someone passes by, the third floor without an elevator is not very comfortable to carry a suitcase. The bed and pillows are not comfortable..
Dear Mr. Miljkovic, I am shocked by your rating of 1. You booked a room for one night and only after booking it did you tell us that you would arrive between 9 and 10 pm. Even though our check-in time is 8 pm, we were kind enough to wait for you, even though we could have decided not to receive you and you would have paid for the room anyway. You showed up at 1:20 am and with that I have already said everything about your respect for other people's work. Regarding your comment "you can hear everything when someone passes by", I would like to point out that your room was on the third and last floor, there are only 2 rooms per floor and the room next to yours was not occupied by any guests. Who did you hear passing by during the few hours you stayed, from 1:20 to 9:30 in the morning? Maybe you meant that you disturbed the guests staying on the first and second floors by arriving at that time? As for the comfort of the bed and pillows, we have a score of 9.3 but I understand that it is subjective! BBH

Verified reviewThe hotel is close to the center. The bed was ok, for one night.
Check in is from 2 pm and we had to wait half an hour for the room to be completely cleaned and the floors to be mopped. We didn't have a problem waiting, but when we got to the room the floors were very dirty both in the room and in the bathroom. In principle, this is not a hotel, but an apartment. The reception is a street away, which is open when you announce yourself and then you go a street further into a building where there are two floors without an elevator and narrow long stairs. As it is not a typical hotel, you do not have slippers in the room and the floor was terribly dirty, which made us very dissatisfied. There was also dust on the bedside table. You don't have any personal hygiene needs except for soap for showering and towels. Forget about ear buds and shower caps, slippers, etc. It says there is coffee, but there is only a kettle and cups without spoons .There are no glasses for water. The room door can be locked but does not touch the wall all the way, it cannot be closed all the way so you can hear everything from the hallway and additionally the cold gets inside. We tried to turn on the heating, but it didn't work in the room or the bathroom, only the air conditioning with heating worked, but it was quite cold. Since it is close to the center and the surrounding restaurants and cafes, it gets quite loud and lively on the weekends, so if you've come to rest, don't count on a good night's sleep.

Verified reviewWe wanted a room right in the middle of where everyone meets, not down in the tourist section. This place was great. The community lights up in the evening, and stays alive until early in the morning. Plus, a quick walk down the romantic side road and we were RIGHT in the middle of the square where all the major shops were and the ocean right across the street (less than a 3-4 min walk). The room was very clean and had everything we needed. The host was "over the top" helpful: • showed up early to take our luggage so we could enjoy the day in Trieste before check in time, (simply email them ahead of time). • helped with the luggage up the stairs (note: 3 flights of narrow stairs - so caution if you're not in shape...ask for a lower room). • PLUS fixing a slight glitch in the hot water heater within 5 minutes of notice. TRULY amazing kindness and helpfulness.

Verified reviewThe location is good in a pedestrian Piazza, but two bars share the Piazza which can be noisy.
The front desk is only open from 2 to 8, so no leaving luggage or check in before that time.
Dear Mrs. Patricia, I usually do not respond to reviews, but when they are not true they deserve clarification for those who read us. We are sorry that your stay was not to your liking because you did not read the description before booking. The opening hours of our reception are clearly described on the Booking page and are communicated at the time of booking via message. However, you arrived at the hotel at 9 in the morning without notifying us, and only then did you call us to inform us of your early arrival. At 9:30 we came to receive you, so we do not understand the criticism. If you needed to check in early, you should have simply notified us in advance, and as we always do with our guests who arrive outside of check-in hours, we will have come to receive you. Kind regards BBH

Verified reviewThe location is good, although we had to walk uphill about 5 minutes from the parking lot. The gentleman at the front desk was kind an polite.
The memory foam pillow and mat are not comfortable during summer. It embedded our body so we sweated more. The A/C was working but didn’t really work effectively. We missed a desk to put a laptop on.

Just the size of a room, a bit small but otherwise ok.
