Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandThe hotel was a 10 minute walk along a main busy road, with no footpaths to get to the cable car to take you to the centre of Taormina. The beach area was quite rocky and "Lido", was €20 per day per person for sunbed and towel. Would have preferred this to be included in the hotel price, as this was an extra cost not thought of or accounted for when deciding on a hotel. There was no bar or restaurant in the hotel, so again you needed to go out or travel to have a bite to eat or a few drinks. The last thing that kind of irked us was the main train line passed in front of the hotel, a few meters from the entrance, this wasn't mentioned anywhere. So there was a frequent rumbling of a passing train. In saying all of that, we enjoyed our stay.
Hotel was lovely, "Shabby Chic" needs a bit of TLC, as it looked aged! Rooms were clean and practical. We had a treble room which was on the ground floor and only windows to the room were the ones on the door, but it was fine. Staff were extremely friendly and very helpful, a real pleasure to deal with

United KingdomIt was quite run down but with huge potential. Basic tidying up which would have made a big difference had not been done eg The breakfast terrace and path to the water had not been swept and there were odd pieces of stuff around the property. The wall around the terrace was filthy and needed cleaning. As pointed out by others the walk to the area by the cable car has no footpath and blind corners so felt very dangerous every time we walked there.
It was away from the maddening crowds. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful and the view from the terrace was lovely. The bed was large and comfortable and the terrace with a sea view was a good size, the breakfast lady was lovely.

NetherlandsWe didnt realize a train track was between the hotel and the beach. The train comes by about every hour from 5 in the morning.
Only 2-5 minute walk to the cable car that brings you to taormina. Nice beach also close, lots of restaurants in the neighborhood.

PortugalWe had to pay for parking (15€ per night). The distance to the city is considerable to walk, but doable. TPA didn't work at first and had to pay via saying my credit card details and hotel manager called a collegue to process it in another hotel of the group - was legit, but it felt it could be sketchy at that time.
Taormina is great. Good venue and view of the sea. They have park, but paid. Close to great beaches. Location is good - 1km to the best beach of Taormina. Amazing breakfast in first day. In the second, a lot of food was missing, and we were in the middle of the schedule for it, around 10am - it was supposed to go from 8~9 til 11~12h00.

SpainThe small details someone already gives for granted nowadays on hotels around the world like the absence of a kettle to make yourself a tea or a coffee in your room, or lack of courtesy bottle of water. They charged for the ones on the mini bar. Also at breakfast, the scrambled eggs were made once in the very morning and like for the battalion and then they went very overcooked if you are not there when just freshly done.
The facilities (building) are very good and the view is incredible, having breakfast at the terrace gives an extra touch to start the day Having the cafe freshly made by humans on espresso coffee machine is definitely something to highlight.

United KingdomBooked a balcony and sea view but view was limited and on had ground floor terrace not balcony, even though we said at booking it was our wedding anniversary trip. Also train noise close to hotel garden and loud started at 4.30am, not communicated to us before booking. Breakfast was hit and miss on choice depending on arrival as was ever replenished. Location good for views but can be tricky walking on road to get to hotel, especially at night.

LatviaYes, the train tracks are just beside sea/fence of facility, but it does not go too often and we had no issues with it, cuz our windows were facing street. Perhaps just a bit too expensive.
Cannot get a better location than this (perhaps only 100m down the road, but it is super expensive). In my opinion, you are paying for the location and parking, the rest is what it is. Good and friendly staff, it was clean and room service was good, we got new stuff after just one day. Yes the overall look/condition of the place is outdated, but so are the rest of them in Sicily. Really cool chillout zone on roof, terrace and nice garden with exit to the beach. Breakfast could be good, if staff would pay more attention on what is running out or missing, because both times, we ate clondish eggs and no bacon. Perhaps you need to ask, we did not, not in our culture to ask for things (we are a bit shy). Place is good and you will be able to get to cable car in 10min by foot and the up to Taormina 🤌
