How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.

-The toilet seat is broken, you can get cuts if you try to use it. -They advertise a kitchen, but it has no fridge. The coffee cups were dirty. -They say they have parking. We called the day earlier to reserve, but, it wasnt available. I would not reserve it if I knew they dont have parking. -The staff made fun of my tired crying toddler -there are eletrical wires from walls, that a toddler can reach

Where do i start? Communication and management is really poor, keys where not there so we had to wait to get buzzed in and had no way of going in. Room was dirty, there are so many health and safety hazards. Toilet didnt flush, and doesnt even have a cover, toilet roll was not replaced and had a half used one on the side?! “Free toiletries” was a used and opened low grade soap. Pitcures on the website are so deceiving and the price is extortionate for what the room actually is! We didnt have the keys, so we been told to call the number to get buzzed in, we went out for the evening and had to wait 10 minutes in the pouring rain to get in cause nobody answered! When they answered it was a half asleep man who had no clue of the situation, when i said we are going to go out again he asked “what time will you be back” quite rudely as he will have to wake up again!

Verified reviewLocation was great, almost directly central. Was able to check in at 1pm which was brilliant. The room was spacious and the bed was very comfy! The entrance hall was also very beautiful.
We could not get the door open! it took ages for us to figure it out. the handle was so slippy which was a bit gross. The Bathroom was quite dated and a little bit dirty.

Verified reviewWhat a great find! It’s really close to the old town, the room is super clean and the beds are comfortable. For the price that it is, what more could you want!?! I saw some people had an issue with the shower but my shower was fine. I’d definitely recommend this place.
I didn’t think that I booked a bunk bed so I was surprised when I got there, but it wasn’t an issue.

Before booking, I informed the host through Booking.com that our train would arrive after 11:30 PM and asked if a late check-in would be possible. The booking was accepted, so I assumed everything was in order. Some time later, I received a WhatsApp message with registration information. There was no greeting or polite introduction — it felt quite unfriendly, but I let that slide. Then the real issue began. Our flight was significantly delayed due to a severe thunderstorm — something completely beyond our control. I informed the host immediately that we would be arriving later than expected. Unfortunately, the check-in process required us to call her to unlock the door — there was no self check-in or key box. When I explained the situation, she showed zero understanding or flexibility. After I explained the situation, she flat-out refused to complete the check-in, saying our arrival was too late for her. We were not offered any alternative, not even the option of paying a late check-in fee, even though her Booking.com listing clearly states that late check-in is available for an extra charge. We would have happily paid it — but it was never mentioned. Instead, she simply said it was our problem that we were late, and showed no empathy. I asked her to officially cancel the reservation so that we might at least receive a partial refund, but she refused and kept the full amount. We ended up having to find a new place to stay in the middle of the night — exhausted and stressed after a long travel day. What makes this worse is that I’ve traveled to Italy many times, always using Booking.com — and I’ve never had a bad experience until now. Italian hosts are usually warm and welcoming, but this woman was by far the rudest and most unhelpful person I have ever encountered on any trip. This experience was truly disappointing and unworthy of the hospitality I’ve come to expect from Italy.

Verified reviewGreat room in the heart of Verona! The property is a short walk from the centre, with lots of shops and restaurants nearby. We only stayed for one night, but was a great stay!
We received a link to check in to the property, however the link did not work, so we were stuck outside the property trying to get in contact with the owner.

I did not get a code to enter the building or any info from where to find the key. Called the number but no one picked up. Got a number from other tourists and some woman gave a code but wrong room. In the end I finally got info where to get the key and codes. Was some problem with the door. I would had recommen this place IF i would had got the info befor check in and correct number on booking.

The shower tap was leaking, and the door on the balcony was hard to lock, but otherwise, the room was perfect for its price.

We had apartment nr. 2. Where to start - unfinished unpainted wall, moldy shower, broken shower door, leaking shower head, broken toilet seat, weak light in bathroom, non-working light switches in bedroom, sticky dining table. It was just shabby overall.

Beware, the apartment is in very bad condition, smelly and the kitchen was barely useable. Basically everything else: the apartment kitchen was falling apart, kitchen doors missing, fridge handle missing, kitchen equipment missing or not functioning with the induction hob. (see photos) Smelly apartment of damp. No WiFi provided The bathroom was also falling apart: toilet seat was cracked and not sanitary, shower doors were half hanging off and covered in black mold. (see photos) Did not feel comfortable in the apartment and this should not be an approved booking.com rental. Its clearly a cash cow down to its location which you can not argue is great and the only good thing about it. Booking . com and the host are milking this cow with no care for the respect or satisfaction of the guests It's a shame, with just a little love to this rental the owner could have happy and satisfied guests but it is clear it will be booked regardless down to its location, leaving guests feeling cheated and potentially ruining their time in beautiful Verona.
