Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsEntering the property was like stepping into a fairy tale! A wonderful 250 year old house, very well taken care off. A wonderful garden and great patio where an amazing breakfast was served by the owners whose hospitality went far beyond anything I ever experienced at a B&B! Inside many artworks welcomed us. The apartment has a beautiful big terrace with a view of the Etna! From a nice sofa you could admire the great environment. The beds were very comfortable and everything you could need was there: from a corkscrew to a water cooker, from a good bed light to lots of space. WiFi was great, parking was good and private. I can’t but recommend this gem! We will definitely be back on our next trip to Sicily.

Czech RepublicPlease note, the attic apartment doesn't have a proper door, so if you need a lot of privacy, choose a different one. It is on a different level though, so there's a staircase, but some people may not feel comfortable.
Beautifully furnished old Sicilian villa. Very spacious attic apartment with a big terrace overlooking Etna. The aircon worked perfectly so even the attic didn't get hot. Just 12 minutes car ride to Taormina, 5 mins to the beach and 8 minute walk to the best pizza place. The breakfast was smaller but very good. Once they build the swimming pool, it will be heavenly.

A beautiful and traditional style villa with great views of Mount Etna. Villa is only a 15 minute walk to the beach and restaurants. The hosts were lovely, very welcoming and served a great breakfast each morning. Would definitely stay here again 😃.

ItalyWe didn’t love Giardini Naxos itself — it’s quite crowded with cars, so the 20-minute walk to the beach may not be pleasant. But Villa Chiarenza felt like an oasis of calm and greenery in the middle of it all. Also, note that the villa is close to the highway, so it might be a bit noisy if you're a light sleeper.
Our stay at Villa Chiarenza was truly special — classy, charming, and it honestly exceeded our expectations. The villa is beautifully decorated with art pieces, giving it a vintage feel while still offering all modern comforts. The hosts were incredibly kind and created a lovely breakfast experience on the terrace each morning. Parking is a big plus in a town where it's hard to find, just make sure to check if it's included in your rate (otherwise it's €8/day — worth it and you will need it!).

IsraelThis is a magnificent and charming old villa, filled with antiques and surrounded by a spacious garden. It is lovingly managed by a delightful elderly couple, Agatha and Salvatore, who take care of every detail with warmth and grace. Our room was clean and featured a large terrace overlooking Mount Etna. As noted in other reviews, you can hear some noise from the nearby highway toll station, but it did not detract from our overall enjoyment of the experience. There isn’t much to see in the immediate vicinity, as the villa is located in a rather plain residential neighborhood. However, it's just a short drive to the sea and beachfront restaurants, about 15 minutes from Taormina, and around 45 minutes from both Catania and Mount Etna. All in all, it’s a strategically located base for exploring the region.

United KingdomNothing negative. They are in the process of building a pool, so would have been extra amazing if it was ready.
Very friendly and hospitable owners. Despite the language barrier, they made our stay very comfortable. You feel like you are staying in a Palazzo! Impeccably clean and delicious breakfast.

CanadaAgata and Salvatore were incredibly welcoming and attentive. I truly appreciate their efforts to accommodate my needs during my stay. The villa exceeded all my expectations, and the room was exactly what I was looking for. The location is about a 15-20 minute walk from the beach, which was almost perfect for me, though it's worth noting that I wasn't traveling by car. The terrace of my room offered a view of Etna, although it does face the road. Thankfully, it was never too loud in the mornings or at night, so noise was never an issue. Salvatore’s breakfasts were fantastic—plenty of food to keep me energized through the afternoon. This was my first time in Sicily, and I know where I'll stay next time I visit.

BelgiumNothing to complain about
We had a wonderful stay, the house is rather a museum than a B&B, full of beautiful pieces of art, so impressive and tasteful. Outdoor is also iconic with an astonishing terrasse full of cactus and hundreds of other plants with a perfect view over Etna. Handmade breakfast is generous and different every day. The owners are so welcoming that they will make you feel at home while providing you with all the necessary information about your trip in the area. We spent 4 nights but could have stay more!
