How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewSuch a beautiful location, at the bottom of a hill, looking up towards Monreale. The gardens were very well cared for, as was the whole property. There was an excellent pool area. Teodoro drove us twice up to Monreale for dinner and to catch a bus to Palermo. We had a good breakfast with lots of fruit and fresh items. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Verified reviewWhat set this property apart was the graciousness of our hosts. It's a lovely home. Our room was comfortable and immaculate. Breakfast was wonderful. The B&B itself is well located for seeing not just Monreale, but Palermo and the entire area. But it was the kind welcome and gracious hospitality that set this B&B apart. Our host helped us to navigate the area and even drove us up to the bus stop so we wouldn't have to trek uphill first thing in the morning. It felt like staying with family.

Verified reviewA beautiful home, very comfortable room. Gardens are idyllic and the pool very welcome on a hot day. Theodore and his wife very kind and as mentioned previously, he kindly gave us a lift up the steep hill to the historic centre.
A car is essential but driving in Italy is not for the faint hearted!

Verified reviewThe hosts were fantastic. Very friendly and helpful-gave us maps of the area and made suggestions on what to see. He gave us a ride up to Monreal and showed us how to get to where we wanted to go. The grounds are beautiful. Room was very clean and comfortable. They put out a huge breakfast for us and even made fresh squeezed orange juice. They really went out of their way to make our stay comfortable.
they had wifi, but it was a bit spotty. air conditioner had a slight rattle.

Verified reviewThe hosts are very friendly and they dropped us off in Monreale. The next day the host dropped us off at the bus station. They gave us much tips about what there is to see and do in Monreale. Very friendly and genuinely kind people! The swimming pool and garden was beautiful. You see the work and love that the hosts are putting in their garden!

Verified reviewThe B&B is located in a private oasis 5 minutes from Monreale. An ideal location. The pool and gardens were beautiful and well maintained. They had two nice dogs who eventually warmed up to us. Upon arrival the host (husband) greeted us and allowed to us go sit by the pool, as the rooms weren't ready yet (we arrived early). He was very friendly and got us a bottle opener and some plastic glasses for the wine we had brought. I had called ahead to let them know we were going to arrive earlier than we thought. The rooms were comfortable and cozy. There was plenty of parking for the two cars we brought and it was gated, so it was very private.
The facilities were perfect, except for the very loud mini refrigerator in our room and that one of the outlets didn't work. We read all of the rules of the property and made sure to adhere to them. In the evening, we ordered pizza to eat there. Because it was raining, we ate in the dining room and hung out there. About halfway through our meal at around 8:30pm, the owner (wife) came into the living room and scolded me for not letting her know that we were bringing pizzas into the dining room. She said if I had told her, she would have provided plates, etc. But they were not needed. She said that the room smelled of pizza and that there were other guests coming and she didn't want that smell in the room. She opened one of the windows to circulate the air. After we finished eating at around 10:00pm, I gathered everything we had brought in, including all the rubbish, pizza boxes, the food, all of the items we had used and put them in our car so they wouldn't "smell" up the room. I felt that the way in which I was approached was abrupt and rude and it made me feel like I was staying at my mean aunt's house. It was embarrassing and my friends were shocked. For this reason alone, I will not come back.

Verified reviewIt's a good location if you have a car to explore the area. The family that run it are super friendly.
There is a German shepherd that barks at you a lot. If you're scared of dogs this is not the place for you. The location is good only if you have a car. The way to Monreale is a pretty horrible walk. Edit to respond to the host's response: "Hachiko, our dog, barks just when there is someone outside the gate" - Well, he barked at us when we were inside the property, each time he saw us, continuously until we were out of his sight, so that is not true. "By the way, you didn't show us any concern about that." - Because we didn't want or expect you to do anything, this is a warning to guests who might have a fear of dogs. If you don't have a fear of dogs then it is fine, but it should be something that potential guests are aware of. "Regarding the walking to Monreale or Palermo: my father, indeed, told you something like 1000 times if you would have accepted a passage with his car to the city centre." - He did indeed drive us to Monreale and we are very grateful for that, and we walked back (on a narrow road with no pavements and fast-driving cars, a lot of rubbish and passing a sewage treatment plant) as you both suggested. There was no offer to drive us to the centre of Palermo, nor do we expect one - you must have us confused with other guests. We are very grateful for the lift he gave us to Monreale. This is out of your control, and we do not want or expect to be driven around, we are just commenting for future guests that it isn't good for walking but if you use it as a base with a car then it is fine. "We've just read your review and the truth is that we really are deceived from it...my parents cannot understand the reason of this really bad ranking..." - I didn't intend to cause any offence and I'm sorry you took it that way. I'm just trying to give an honest review here...
Good evening, Anton! We've just read your review and the truth is that we really are deceived from it...my parents cannot understand the reason of this really bad ranking... Hachiko, our dog, barks just when there is someone outside the gate, and he never assaults our guests (moreover, he really is very friendly and no one gave us a complaint about that). You know, our credo is: "guest first". By the way, you didn't show us any concern about that, as well as regarding the walking to Monreale or Palermo: my father, indeed, told you something like 1000 times if you would have accepted a passage with his car to the city centre. Waiting for your feedback, we thank you for your company and your kindness and of course, we wish you the best for your life.
