How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThis is rare opportunity to feel the spirit of old fashioned Italy, don’t miss it, if you plan travel to Milan. Close to Malpensa, about 25 minutes easy drive You’ll need a car to be comfortable in this house, this is the only thing needs to be mentioned. The room is actually a large 2 room private apartment, very clean and quiet, with beautiful views from any window. Do not miss walk in the morning in wonderful garden I’d like to thank the owner, from the first minute of arrival and until the department, extremely friendly and helpful I definitely highly recommend this place and hope to have a chance to visit it again

The place is beautiful, very clean, and the host is incredibly kind! Verified reviewEverything about Villa dell'Usignolo was outstanding. Our host, Ursula could not have been more kind, helpful and welcoming. She went to great lengths to ensure we had an enjoyable night out in the local town. The room was elegant, super comfy and vast. Old world charm with modern convenience. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the bathroom warm, spaciouos and very clean. The breakfast was also superb with fresh squeezed orange juice, fresh baked goods, and lots of options. It was also lovely to enjoy such a beautiful house and garden. We really hope to return here and stay longer.

On Booking it says that breakfast is included but it doesn't specify that it refers to the Italian breakfast, we'll try to communicate it. However, in the breakfast room there is a laminate that says that we ask a small contribution for extras (eggs, cheese etc.)

Verified reviewThe room was huge and we had our own small dinning room. The windows reached the ceiling and the view to the garden was breathtaking. The furnishings were lovely and the whole place made you feel like you were living in the 19th century. The hostess was really kind and she made us feel very welcome. She even helped my boyfriend organise his wedding proposal by ordering a very large bouquet of red roses for us. When we returned to the room after our evening walk the large bouquet was on the bed waiting for us. When we saw it my boyfriend presented me with a lovely ring and asked me to marry him. I said yes!!! As you can imagine this place will always be in our hearts and we are planning on visiting again to celebrate our anniversary...

Verified reviewThis place is magnificent, the level of hospitality provided by Ursula was excellent. The garden is very beautiful and the room is very thoughtfully put together. Breakfast was with freshly baked croissants, fruits, cereal and Ursula always goes the extra mile to ask what we need or want. A wonderful host!

Verified reviewWhat didn't we like. It's a fantastic house. Greeted by the daughter, who spoke excellent English and very helpful. Bedroom, bathroom and breakfast were all excellent, all laid out into our own suite. Parking was within the grounds and got issued with the gate zapper plus house keys. The house has a great family history, great entrance hall filled with artefacts. The town was lovely, nice for an evening walk along the river. Perfect breakfast served by the lovely owner. Overall, I can honestly say this is close to being the best stopover we have ever had.
