How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewClose to the riverside by Castello Vecchio
The owner took us on a futile 1 hour tour of how to use keys, windows, doors.... Tried to escape offering the breakfast that was included. Didn't want to give the air conditioning controller. Responded aggressively when my wife knocked on the office door (like instructed) to ask for breakfast. He then tried to do a swat search of the 1 bedroom room we had used for one night to look for defects. Cut him short of trying to do a 1 hour checkout... Don't come here.

Verified reviewGreat location because it is not in the center itself but around 10 minutes by foot, has parking spot right behind the building. Great thong is that the owner is sleeping in the bedroom right across the hall.
Toilet has some problems like old tap on the sink s you have to be really careful not to break it and also the shower hose has some problems because you may get a feeling on your hands that you are getting a little electric shock on your fingers during your shower. Bedroom doors are old also a bit creaking so it is another little problem.

Verified reviewAmazing host who explained in detail the best way to walk to the centre, where the best pizza in town was, the must-see places in Verona, and even walked us towards the train station when we left. The host himself offered to leave things until the evening and pick them up when it was convenient for us to walk around the city light. Beautiful antique furniture. Sleeping in an 18th century bed was a wonderful experience! Minimal but good breakfast. Quite close to the city centre. Thank you!!!

Verified reviewThe hosts English was decent and you could communicate pretty well with him.
Both mattresses were urine stained and stunk. The description stated there was AC, but you must leave the window open to vent it out and it doesn’t cool the room, it was awful. He asked us to only run it for an hour at a time. We sweat all night and couldn’t sleep. The breakfast didn’t include any protein, a croissant and tea. The chairs in the room were broken and need replaced, he said they were antique, the backs were broken and the seat completely worn out.

Verified reviewBreakfast was included in price however there was nobody in the apartment at breakfast time. We decided to leave the apartment and went to a local cafe for breakfast where we saw the host enjoying an aperol spritz. NOT IMPRESSED. He knew that he had not provided breakfast, apologised & advised us that he would be back at the apartment in 10 mins. I did not believe this, said "No."
Although we had given a 5pm arrival well in advance we had to wait approx 10 mins to enter the building. The host appeared to be drunk when he opened the door. (We had asked in advance if there was space to park the bikes which was answered positively. In previous similar apartments this has been in the ground floor hall of an apartment block & we padlock the bikes). In this case we had to lock them outside in the apartment car park adjacent to the building. Our biggest grievances were against the host - he insisted upon sitting us down at a table & going through "dos & don'ts" of what to do in Verona even though I told him that I have been there three times before. This lasted about 30 mins and at one stage he left us for 5 mins and came back smelling of more alcohol. The bedroom was not ready at the appointed time. The most disturbing aspect was that whenever my daughter came out of the bathroom (shared which we knew) he immediately invaded her space making her feel extremely uncomfortable exacerbated by his drunkenness. This happened more than once. I would not recommend this host to anybody especially if it's two girls.

Verified reviewHost very helpful with local information. Ideal location for exploring as it is on the edge of the older town. So not too far to walk. Square with restaurants less than 5 minutes walk. The bed was surprisingly comfortable.
Not a problem for us but the property is three floors up and there is no lift.
