How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.

The towels and bed linen were not fresh. The bathroom is very dangerous, the shower tray is tilted very downwards and is therefore slippery. The bathroom door is hard to close. Additionally, it was written in the amenities that there was a washing machine. I was traveling for a very long time and I bought this room mainly because of the washing machine, but there was none. Moreover, it was very noisy from the street even with the windows closed. The balcony was of no use because it was not equipped. The view from the balcony is of a very busy street and the block opposite. This accommodation is a room in an apartment. There was no reception and contact with the owner was via WhatsApp. We only received instructions that were not obvious, so we spent more time checking in than expected. What's more, the owner expected us to take photos of the documents, which is not legal. We have no problems reporting our accommodation to the police, in accordance with the law, but expecting us to take photos of such important documents is excessive.
Dear customer, I will have the pleasure of responding point by point to all your observations. Towels and sheets are washed and sanitized at every guest change. If you had reported to me that they were not to your liking in any case, we have many others and we could have easily changed them with others that would have better reflected your tastes. You talk about a dangerous, inclined, broken bathroom, obviously it's all false because in the same period there are 10 reviews for the same room and it's not possible to fix a bathroom in a few hours, among other things you have the possibility to insert photos in the review, I I ask why you didn't put them... simply because they are lies. The washing machine is not present among the services, so you should read carefully when you book, among other things you only stayed one night, I don't understand the need to spend it doing laundry. Noisy street? Of course, get an apartment right in the city center, you could have gotten one in the open countryside so you can be alone! Balcony unusable why? Here too you could have inserted photos to demonstrate that the balcony was not accessible! If you needed to have a 24-hour live reception, you could have booked one of the many €250 per night hotels we have in the city, if you choose to pay a third of €250, it is obvious that there cannot be the same ones 5 star hotel services. For check in I send all the detailed instructions, with everything you need to know, they are very simple steps and anyone can be in the room in 2 minutes, you were the first and so far only ones to whom I had to dedicate half an hour of calls and video calls, you wouldn't even find yourself in a labyrinth... final consideration on documents. Say that you travel a lot, you should know that it is necessary and obligatory for us managers to report who is staying in the facility, anyone asks for a copy of the document even just to book, you yourself when booking from Booking enter all your data, I asked you to be able to stop by person to see your data without sending me a copy of the document and you refused, you decided to send them only when I told you that without being able to register, it would not have been possible for you to stay in the facility and that therefore I would have even reimbursed you in order to make you leave , as by law I would not have been able to keep you illegally. In conclusion, customers like you fortunately happen once in a thousand, I wish you good luck in life and to one day be able to understand the sacrifices behind people who have a business and run it amidst a thousand difficulties, sometimes I I wonder about the meaning of so many sacrifices when dealing with clients like this, but luckily there are thousands of them who are a pleasure to meet and have as my guests, and I tell myself that it is for them that I love this job. Verified reviewNice and cozy apartment, perfect location, very close to railway station. The host was very friendly and let us leave our suitcase even before the check-in time. It was also nice to get snack of croissants, cookies, coffee and two bottles of mineral water.
