How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewWe stayed here for one night. Very nice experience. This B&B is up to hill, so going by car is recommended and it has its own private car park. The hotel is in a quiet location and is very clean. Owners are lovely and very helpful. We stayed in the Mallow triple room. It was exactly like in the picture. Very nice large clean bathroom. You will find shampoo, conditioner and shower gel, hairdryer and soap. There is a kettle and loads of different teas. Breakfast was fine, you will receive a form where you can choose how you like your eggs and return the form to the owner. The area around the hotel was nice. You can see a bit of Lake Como from there. Overall, it was a nice stay, but we will choose something different next time where we can get at least coffee or a snack from the bar or restaurant.
Just so you know there is no TV in the room, but we didn't mind. Just beware no food at all in the B&B except breakfast. And you are not allowed to bring any food to the hotel, like pot noodles or something else. If you want to eat anything, you can eat it outside in the garden.

We are glad that you liked our house, but we would also like to point out a few things, as these are features that are present in the description of our property both on Booking.com and on our website and can help other guests as well. - Our house is uphill, 2 km from the village, so we always recommend the use of a car. - It was our choice not to put TV sets in the rooms in order to respect those who prefer the tranquillity of the place, but free wifi allows anyway guests to use their own devices . -By law, a B&B like ours can only serve breakfast and we are not allowed to sell food or drinks, but there is a misunderstanding about food brought in from outside. Our guests usually go to restaurants for dinner, but if they need it they can bring their own food and we’re available to set a table both inside or outside for them, as well as provide plates, glasses or cutlery or a microwave in our breakfast room. That’s also the reason why, despite not having fridges in our rooms, we provide anyway a big fridge with free water and spaces for personal food or drinks in our dining room. We therefore regret that these characteristics were perhaps not sufficiently clear, but we hope to do better in the future. Cristina and Claudio

Our host Christina was so welcoming and was a brilliant host 👏 Great secure parking for motorbikes 🏍 After a long day on the road we were able to order from a local restaurant and enjoyed eating and drinking on the terrace until the sun went down. Verified reviewThis is a most heavenly place to stay! It is in a beautiful setting high above a wooded dell, but easily accessible by road. The view is fantastic. We had a sumptuous breakfast, sitting out on the terrace amongst flowers and potted lemon and orange trees. Claudio and Cristina are exceptional hosts, attentive and caring, and extremely helpful on visiting places in the locality. We’re just trying to find a way to return as soon as possible!

The hosts were incredibly warm and welcoming, the room and the property are spotless and beautifully decorated, and the view from the terrace was great. Verified reviewThis was the best stay of our traveling experience so far. Cristina and Claudio live in the house and are fantastic hosts with great sense of humour. Their 14th century home is amazingly preserved and brought up to contemporary standards. It's quiet, extremely comfortable, tucked in the hill forest away from the crowds.

Verified reviewI booked this B&B for my parents and my sister; they loved this place. The owners are amazing; they go above and beyond their duty as hosts. The location and the building are beautiful. The rooms are big and clean. The most amazing thing is the breakfast—probably comparable to one from a 5-star hotel with homemade cakes. It is definitely recommended if you are in the Como area.

Verified reviewEverything was perfect. We enjoyed every minute there. We arrived at night under the rain, and the host was there with an umbrella waiting for us. She speaks many languages fluently, and her B&B is one of the coziest and cleanest we have ever seen. The property has a great view and has a beautiful garden. The room was huge and super equipped with ammenities, coffee, tea, and infusions. Breakfast was amazing. You can see that they use good ingredients and prepare everything carefully. I really want to come back with more time.
Unfortunately, we only stayed one night. The B&B is located on the top of a hill in a small village, so it's more suitable for those traveling by car.

Verified reviewWelcoming heart warm owners. Beautiful villa with top class hotel readiness but yet with warm and homely interior. Classy home made breakfast. Went to Albavilla from Como with bus and to get to hotel we had a lovely walk trough small roads up the hill - Perfect location to rest and walk around small village besides mountainy forest area.
