How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewLocation is perfect, no noise and 5mins walk from Colosseum. Easy access and check-in & check-out. Great staff. Comfortable bed and powerful AC deflected out from the bed so no flow to your face. Good shower and plenty of space however toilettries basic. Amazing breakfast, local fresh cheese, salami, tomatoes and bread and of course coffee & pastry. Have same Coffee maker DeLonghi MagnificaS at home so coffee is like at home. Plenty of snacks and drinks to grab & free. Water is free and not just any. The water dispenser is amazing. It makes cold sparkling water so good that I immediately ordered one device home from amazon. Kitchen in the common area is equipped with everything you need if you want to cook anything by yourself. The perfect B&B for couples or solos and the price is good too. There are many B&B’s in this price range but none of them beat this one.
Nothing much but toilettries (shower gel/shampoo) could be better.

Verified reviewIt is a beautiful property and very close to The colosseum and the Domus Aurea. Green and spacious and well taken care of. The hosts were gracious and generous with personal attention to the visitors. Loved staying here and would do it again.

Verified reviewStaff was incredible. They were kind and helpful with food recommendations and travel advice to our activities. AND they surprised us--our rooms were unexpectedly ready early! There were homemade treats, fruit and coffee available 24 hours a day in the common kitchen area. They also were able to hold our luggage after checkout for a couple hours. Rooms were perfect and cool, and the hotel was well situated by the park. Walk from Termini was hot but doable. There are tons of restaurants and nearby amenities. You can see the Colosseum right outside the hotel's gate!! It's perfect. Thank you, Raquel and staff! We could not have been happier with our stay.
Nothing.

Verified reviewThe location was great, the bathrooms were clean, the AC worked. Andrea was very kind and welcoming. The instructions for entering the property were very well done. The little garden was beautiful and well maintained. It was clear the host cared about our stay.
The breakfast selection was good, but I would have appreciated more fruit and maybe eggs.

Verified reviewWe had no expectations going in to staying at B&B Domus Aurea. Andrea and the rest of the staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful. I got to make my own cappuccinos on the morning just like at home. The room was air conditioned, and the air conditioner was quiet.
Not their problem, but we could hear the pride day celebration going on just down the hill and across from the Colosseum.

Verified reviewFantastic location right next to the Colosseum. The house is beautiful with a beautiful garden where you can enjoy breakfast. The host is wonderful. Easy communication once we arrived in Rome. Our room was perfect, big and sunny, spotlessly clean with a lovely bathroom. Snacks and drinks are stocked in the fridge and a lovely breakfast was laid out in the morning (Andrea even put tablecloths on the garden tables). We only stayed one night after finishing a cruise and were so sorry we didn't give ourselves more time in Rome. We will definitely be back.

Verified reviewEveryone was very pleasant and went out of their way to make us welcomed and comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The kitchen facilities were very good with a bean to cup coffee maker, a water dispenser with reusable bottles, a selection of cake and crisps throughout the day and breakfast from 6am. The fridge had free soft and beer drinks and there were plates etc if you wanted to bring your own food back. There were recycling bins for everything as well and tables outside in a small courtyard that was hidden from the street by plants so felt sucluded. All rooms were cleaned everyday and the rooms were very spacious at a fraction of the cost of an hotel. The location was super as it was next to the park entrance and a 5 min walk from the colosseum. Plenty of restaurants within a 10 min walk. Plus a short walk to the metro. I would highly recommend this B&B.
Very small points. A few more coat hangers would be good but as we were only there for 3 nights this wasn't an issue and I'm sure Andrea would give us more if asked. Our room was off the kitchen which can get a little noisy in the mornings when putting out breakfast and people having conversations. But not so noisy that I would be put me off staying again.
