How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewSuper view. The owner was very helpful particularly in giving us lifts to and from the ferry port out of the goodness of his heart! And the free aperitifs as a welcome were a lovely surprise. Two good restaurants very nearby.
There was a flashing light on the ceiling which was disturbing at night. The distance from Menaggio could have been more clearly described. We understood that we could pay extra for breakfast but this was not on offer. There’s a great supermarket to buy breakfast but it is a good twenty minutes’ walk away and it’s all uphill on the way back!

Verified reviewThe view is simply stunning. The place is charming and authentic.
The location itself can be a con as it's further away from the centre. (Fortunately there is a local bus service C13 which is a huge help, however it does not run too often) .

Verified reviewBeautiful location on the hilltop. Bit of a walk to get there (20 min), but very scenic through the town via cobblestone pedestrian walkways, there is also a bus stop nearby. It was perfectly clean and comfortable. Thoughtful addition of sparkling water, tea and coffee. Regular heating was a plus during the cold evenings. Use of the outdoor seating was also special.

Verified reviewVery cute and romantic getaway.
No wifi at the property. Very steep 20 minute walk from Menaggio town centre to the property. Owners speak minimal English which made communication a little difficult. I assumed breakfast would be provided as it’s a B&B (bed and breakfast) but it wasn’t provided.

Verified reviewThe hosts are wonderful people, very friendly and helpful. They even picked me up at the ferry stop, and took me back to it at the end of my stay. I loved the view, the patio, and the garden, which I would have used more often had the weather cooperated. The room was cozy and had what I needed. The bed was very comfortable and the shower had hot water and great water pressure. The kitchenette had a microwave, small fridge, coffeemaker and electric pot for heating water. The hosts provided tea, coffee, condiments. As a bonus, there is a fabulous restaurant just steps away, with amazing lake views and excellent food (open Thurs-Sun evenings only). I was looking for a quiet place to relax and enjoy Lake Como, and I found it here.
For someone without a car, the location is a bit challenging. However, I enjoy walking and was able to climb the hill and many stairs. I would suggest that the description include a note about how far above the town center the location actually is, and that walking/climbing stairs is required, unless one has a car. The hosts did indicate the local bus stop nearby, but during my stay, I never saw the correct bus leaving from the town center. (Possibly due to my not being in town at the appropriate times.)

Verified reviewThe view over the lake and mountain was amazing. It is nice and quiet. Our hosts were very sweet and helpful.
It was a little bit hard walking up and down the hill to reach the B&B, but if you have a car it's not a problem.

Check the location well. It might be a bit far if you are planning to stay close to city centre.

Verified reviewIncredible spot overlooking lake Como. The views were incredible, Lussy was a kind and warm host, making us comfortable and welcome. We were even collected from the bus stop by Lussy's husband as we did not have a car. There's a huge outdoor space to relax with a wine and dinner. WiFi was excellent and the room was well equipped for some light food preparation. It's a fantastic spot, restaurants close by on foot, about 5m walk, groceries a bit further in the main town. Laundromat about 7m walk away too. Would absolutely stay again, it was very peaceful and quiet being out of the town centre. Rooms are very insulated making them very warm and quiet.
All great!

Verified reviewLussy was a very thoughtful hostess, she offered us a ride from the B&B to the ferry. She made sure we had everything we needed. The Green Room was clean with the view of the lake from the window. I really like that we could have used the garden and could enjoy our coffee in the morning outdoors with a great view. What you should have in mind that the B&B is ON THE HILL. But you can take bus, taxi or try to ask Lussy for the help. Nevertheless it is a great place to stay and it was a pleasure for us.
