How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. As a cycling expert, he was able to provide really useful information about the Mortirolo climb for my husband, thank you! The rooms were very clean and comfortable. I would totally recommend this this property!

Verified reviewQuiet location in a small village, within easy reach of Tirano. Comfortable, modern and tidy apartment, excellent bathroom.
Sadly the apartment has no kitchen facility (only a small fridge, water cooker and coffee maker), so it is less convenient for self-catering and/or a longer stay.

Verified reviewThe perfect location if you intend to cycle up the most famous climbs of the Giro! Alao a great spot for hiking! The rooms ate extremely clean, the bed comfy and the host super friendly (and cycling expert 🙃)

Verified reviewIvan and his wife, the owner are friendly and the place is almost new, clean, warm, organized. There are automatic doors with code. Spa is clean, little but complete and new. There are sauna, hamam, idromassage and a little space relax with bio herbal infusions. Good staying!

Verified reviewThe owner was very nice and welcoming. Even though we arrived late at night, he was waiting for us and meeting in person. Iva gave us some advice on the site seeing, bike rent, hiking and places to visit with a small kid. During our first breakfast I’ve asked if there are some vegetables and we had fresh vegetables every day since. The overall breakfast with nice coffee was good.
The walls were quite thin, and we were able to hear the neighbours. The rooms are cooled by cold water floors, and during extreme weather of August 2023 it didn’t help. But I think during the normal conditions it should be fine.

I must express my extreme dissatisfaction with the overall experience at this Base 531-B&B. Prior to our family trip, I diligently reviewed all the feedback and eagerly anticipated our stay, as it was touted as a top-notch B&B according to booking reviews and Google. However, upon arrival, it became apparent that all the reviews were misleading. Throughout our stay, I felt unwelcome and encountered condescending behavior from the B&B owner.
Dear Mr. Rob, We are sorry for your extreme dissatisfaction. We understand, that being called by booking during your stay for bad behavior can be annoying. We suggest you, to consider staying in apartments in the future. Due to your cooking many times in the room, we had to apologize to the rest of the customers present in the our B&B, who witnessed the spicy scents that were present on the floor where you were staying. We know for sure that it's most cheap to eat in the room .... but taking the liberty of creating a sort of grill with the bedside table by placing on it a pot and cooking noodles is not acceptable, because as we told you during check-in time, to cook in the room is it forbidden. We want to thank you so much, because a part of the wall where the pot was placed is damaged due to the boiling water. However, you have taken the liberty of judging, without respecting the rules in force in our B&B, that are widely described on Booking and last but not least verbally anticipated at the time of check-in. Furthermore, we changed the double room that was reserved by you on booking with a triple, this has been done to give you two rooms on the same floor. Not to mention of the dog present without any prior communication. Your early check-in request has not been respected. He was supposed to be in the building at 3-4 pm, he showed up at 7.30. Despite everything we wish you the best and we are always available if you respect our rules!!! please don't cook in the room!! Sincerely Staff Base531BB.

Verified reviewThis place is made with heart! We stayed only for 1 night but the guesthouse exceeded our expectations! The owner Ivan and his wife are super friendly couple who made this place very appealing! The room itself has a very good size, toilet huge with very good quality products. The linen and pillows were excellent so we slept very well. Moreover there is a little relaxation room (jacuzzi and sauna)- but its not for free. The breakfast in the morning is very good ;) it was very delicious, continental buffet breakfast with fresh pastry, Jogurts, good coffee and great cheese! We really enjoyed the stay. We received great food recommendations from Ivan and we had the best meat meal in the area! Thank you for great hospitality and we will always recommend this place! Little tip for Ivan: would be great to have wine glasses in the rooms 😊 as drinking wine in Italy in mugs doesn't taste 😂 You have done this place beautiful!
