How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWe had planned to stay for 4 nights, however had to leave on our second night at midnight after finding bed bugs on our belongings. We inspected the mattress and found thousands of eggs and mould, as well as more bugs. The couple in the room next to ours also found bed bugs in their room at the same time. We had been reading the reviews and hoped the bugs had been dealt with, as the booking was non refundable, but there is a major infestation. Do not stay here, it was the most horrible part of our trip and ruined Rome for us, as we had to spend the next few days treating our clothes and bags to eradicate the bugs, and have dealt with a huge number of bites on our bodies. The most disgusting part is the host is ignoring our messages about the bugs, putting profits above the health of people staying there.

Verified reviewNo breakfast. The location is OK. Close to the metro station.
There are bugs in the room. When I was sleeping, I got a lot of bites on my necks, arms, hands and belly. The best gs are poisonous. The bites made my skin swellen. I booked this place for four nights but moved out after the first night. I asked the owner for reimbursement for at least one night. He never responded.

And I haven’t had any refound back. Booking gave me 1/5 about what I payed as compensation. End of the story. For the platform.

Verified reviewThe location is excellent: in the Esquilino district, about a 10-minute walk from Termini Station, with easy access to trains, metro, and the Leonardo Express to the airport. Getting there by taxi is simple, as there is a fixed fare from the airport. Although basic, the accommodation is on the seventh floor of an old building, and it felt safe overall. The room was simple but spacious enough for two guests. The bed was comfortable and it included a fan, a small heater, a TV, a dresser, a table, and a chair. Wi-Fi worked well throughout the stay. The host, Paolo, was very friendly and welcoming in person, and assured us that we could contact him via WhatsApp if needed.
Pre-arrival communication was very poor: despite multiple messages through Booking and a formal request to change the check-in time, the host did not reply for weeks, leaving us very anxious. We only received a response on the day of arrival, after landing in Italy. This caused a lot of stress, especially after reading a review from guests who had been locked out for arriving late. The room cleaning seemed superficial: we found hairs on the floor and a lot of dust under the bed and in the corners, clearly not cleaned for some time. The pillows were very thin and didn’t provide proper neck support. Although the bathrooms were always available when we needed them, they seemed to be cleaned only once during our 9-night stay. The shower didn’t consistently provide hot water, which was quite uncomfortable—even in warmer weather. The building is old and everything is noisy (doors, elevator, plumbing), but our room was a bit more isolated, so noise wasn’t a big issue. We were very concerned about recurring reports of bedbugs. We brought insect repellent and took precautions. Thankfully, we didn’t get bitten, but we did find one bug on the floor near the end of our stay. This could worry future guests and should be addressed seriously by the host. Summary: The accommodation has a great location and excellent price, but seriously lacks in communication, cleanliness, and maintenance. With some basic improvements and better attention from the host before check-in, it could become a much more reliable and stress-free option.

Verified reviewThe host was friendly on arrival
BEDBUGS, DIRTY and SHOCKING. First of all, the host became unresponsive once all the issues were discovered and brought to his attention. This was a fast book due to a cancellation by the other property. The night before we arrived, we decided to look at the other reviews as the initial photographs looked decent. It went downhill pretty fast. We had seen multiple complaints about bedbugs, so immediately we contacted the host, and after multiple messaged and no response we called. He then assured us on WhatsApp that there are no bedbugs - a Total LIE. When we arrived we saw lots of marks on the mattress, but no bugs (YET). Night 1 we woke up at 4am to discover the mattress full of them. When we sent Paolo images he just ignored us. The showers clog and the water comes back up the drain with unimaginable dirt. The one toilet has no seat, and the bathroom floors are caked in old dirt. The light switches are exposed, and the plugs trip the whole floors power. The pillows are absolutely appalling which lead us to make use of none of the blankets or pillows provided. Please do yourself a favor and stay away

Verified reviewLocation is great and the host was really nice and answered all messages right away. He also let us leave our luggage between check out and our flight, which meant a lot. I would come back again, value for the money is really good.
The building is pretty old so it appears that the room is not clean, but actually it is old and little moldy. Doors are old so it can be noisy at night when other guests arrive.

the bed shits were dirty and the mattress was dirty and full of hair from someone else. the bedroom was Not clean every day as they told me on the first day. The room was full of dust even on bed structure ... I got to clean it before laying on... if you're looking for a place to stay and don't mind a uncleaned environment, this is perfect for you. For me it's not worth of the money.

Verified reviewThe accommodation is central to many parts of Rome, as far as cities are concerned, and transport links are very close if needed, e.g. Termini Station. It is value for money if all you need is a place to lay your head.
!!! The apartment is not clearly signed. The address is correct, but you have to look for apartment number 20, which is on floor 7 inside. As this isn't indicated on the Booking.com information, we spent a while wondering if we had entered into a scam, as you wouldn't know it was a tourist apartment. - The room still had previous people's rubbish lying under the bed, suggesting that the room hadn't been cleaned except having the bed changed. There was also a used contact lens on the floor... - This hygiene issue could also be furthered as when we asked the host if there were any food-heating appliances in the apartment and he said he could bring us a kettle, the kettle was full of calcium, as if it had been stored in someone's attic for a few years... We didn't use it. - It rained a lot during the night, and water got in through the closed window onto the table where we had our stuff, which we had to spend time drying in the morning. - There are NO toiletries except toilet roll - come prepared. - Every door hinge needs a bit of oil, as every single door in the apartment cracks like crazy upon opening and closing.

Verified reviewthe person in charge was extra nice and accommodating, but we had bed bugs in our room :(. the Guy "fumigate," but the damage was done, needles to say the number of bites and physical pain that arise from it , is fare to say we got a small compensation from it ,so we could buy some medicine and repellent.Thankfully, we had a short stay. Other than that, yes, the location is great, and the room has basics needed for your stay.
