How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Couldn't fault anything.
Location fabulous! Breakfast on the roof fabulous! Family that own the B & B fabulous! We were sad to leave after 3 nights.

We had a fantastic stay. The room was lovely, beds were comfortable. It is in the perfect location for bars, restaurants and the sea. Our hosts were lovely and the breakfast was very nice.

There is no balcony.

Nothing. This is a great place centrally located.
VIP stay. You can’t go wrong. Stefano and his dad go out of their way to ensure you have an amazing stay-from booking excursions for you to suggesting restaurants based on preferences and price points. You are minutes to the beach by food and the main center. Breakfast is on par and there is an elevator to help wjth luggage. (Rare in this area!)

The stairs are quite steep and requires caution.
The breakfast options were great. The family running the B&B were very hospitable and helpful. I felt very safe with them. The location is central to all of Ortigia's attractions.

Staying at the Aretusa Vacanze B&B was a highlight of our trip to Sicily! The location in the heart of Siracusa Ortigia was perfect, the accommodations darling and the staff so welcoming. Antonio helped us get settled right away and recommended the bread and homemade jams for breakfast (great suggestion!). Sweet Christiano helped get our bags from the parking lot to the hotel (thank you!). And Stefano offered the suggestion for an afternoon boat excursion which turned out to be amazing! We can’t wait to come back and stay longer. ❤️

Great location, in the heart of Ortigia. Spacious and clean room. The room had a kitchenette and a fridge. We took breakfast at the terrace on the roof, where we could view the sea. Stefano was a great host, advising us about restaurants and boat trips.

No coffee in the room, but hardly a game changer.
Located right in the historic centre of Ortigia. Extremely friendly staff. Clean room, comfortable bed. Shower and bathroom facilities were very good. Well-stocked mini bar (which we didn't use) but spacious enough to store your own water. Breakfast was good if a little limited, pre-ordered, probably due to lack of space on the roof terrace for an extensive buffet. Try the homemade jams and marmalades (made by Maurizio) as they are delicious. Bonus plus is the lift to the rooms upstairs!

Truly unbeatable location (3 excellent snorkeling spots, churches, ancient ruins, excellent restaurants all around some corner) run by 3 generations of the same warm family. What an authentic experience and at a very high standard (perfectly working air conditioning even in the hottest weather + with all accompanying kitchenette appliances). We were a large group occupying 4 rooms of different sizes, and everything in the rooms worked perfectly. All 10 of us enjoyed the stay (including our 70+ year old parents) especially the amazing breakfast served at the table. An authentic experience in the very heart of Ortigia. A special shout out to Stefano who puts out his heart and loads of pride in his work.

The B&B is located in the center of the Ortigia, is very convenient to major tourist attractions, bars and restaurants. The staff is very responsive and helpful! We wish we could stay for a few more nights as the city is simply one of the most beautiful towns that I have ever visited. Highly recommend this place!

Stefano and his family were all super nice, friendly and helpful! They helped arrange car park and I liked that we had our own entrance to our room (with no stairs to access although there were stairs inside to get up to the bedrooms). Loved having bathrooms on both levels. Great location in the thick of things and everything is really walking distance. The rooftop breakfast was the most extensive and custom (Stefano went to the market for us the second morning after he learned our daughter was allergic to sesame to make sure he got bread she could eat!) He also arranged a private boat tour of the sea caves with for us with Dolci Escursioni and it was so fun, the water refreshing and the caves were beautiful!! It was a wonderful stay in Ortigia, thanks Stefano and family!

Antonio, Stefano & his family were great hosts. Very helpful & friendly. Central location. Rooms were clean & comfortable. Breakfast was the highlight with the owners grandson’s cooking a treat & the best homemade jams especially the ‘Fichi d’india’ jam made by the owner. We will definitely be coming back 😊
