How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThis is my first time writing a review, and I can confidently say this is the best apartment we’ve ever stayed in. The location is perfect—within walking distance to all the major attractions. The apartment is spacious, impeccably clean, and tastefully designed with a minimalist aesthetic. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you might need, including appliances, cookware, and tableware. The host even provided several large bottles of water, which was a thoughtful touch. There’s also a washing machine, dryer, and laundry detergent available—an absolute lifesaver during a long trip like ours. The host was incredibly warm and welcoming, helped us with our luggages, and offered plenty of helpful tips on local sights and restaurants. Truly the best host we’ve ever encountered. Free parking was another huge bonus. All in all, everything was perfect. If we ever return to Genoa, we would absolutely stay here again.

Verified reviewAn amazing location, just a short walk to the port or the palazzo Ducale, or the lungomare, we spent a lovely long weekend exploring Genova on foot! Having a comfortable parking was also extremely appreciated. Andrea our host was also very kind in meeting us and showing us around. The apartment is also gorgeous, with all the comforts of home. Despite being next to the San Lorenzo cathedral, it was lovely and silent in the building. Highly recommend!

Verified reviewGreat location surrounded by great bars and restaurants and fabulous historic buildings. Spacious apartment with all mod cons, but in a 475 year old listed building, run by an Incredibly helpful host AND parking nearby is included which is a HUGE positive in this wonderful but very busy city. Highly recommended.

Verified reviewIt was a beautiful apartment in the heart of Old Genoa, perfectly restored for comfort and enjoyment. Well furnished with thoughtful extras, sparkling clean, and a very comfortable bed and fabulous pillow choices, the apartment was a delightful respite after long days and late evenings in the area. Highly recommend.
There was nothing we didn’t like, but if you have mobility issues this may not be the place for you.

Verified reviewThe host was fantastic and met us to help us locate both the parking and the apartment (and helped with our bags!). The location next to the Cathedral is phenomenal and our host also shared excellent restaurant and shopping recommendations. The apartment itself is beautiful and spacious with historic features. We were very comfortable and only wish we had stayed longer!
Really nothing - it was great! The parking is a short walk from the apartment, so just be mindful with bags.

Verified reviewThe highlight of our 2 week trip in Northern Italy was our stay at this apartment. Our host, Andrea, was so welcoming and met us right outside the door, helped us with our luggage and gave us a tour of the apartment and followed up with texts with info about tours, restaurants and events. Never had this level of a Booking.com host before. Obviously, we wanted to see the sights in and around Genoa, but it was hard to leave the apartment because we were so comfortable there. My wife and I are both architects from NYC, and we are very picky about places that we stay when we travel. This apartment is stunning and exceeded our expectations. It's located in an historic palace opposite the 11th c. Cathedral of San Lorenzo, but the apartment is very roomy, modern and bright and impressively well-designed. There are remnants of historic wood beams and frescoes blended with super sleek and high end fixtures and furniture. Every detail was considered, and even the lighting design was well done. Bathrooms and Kitchen fixtures are high end and modern and the washer and dryer were a great plus when you have been traveling and need to do laundry. The host provided waters, Nespresso pods, large bottles of shampoo and body wash, lovely towels and bed linens and the kitchen is stocked with pots, pans, dishes and cookware should you want to whip up a pesto pasta dish. There were dishwasher pods and laundry detergent, as well. Last thing to say is it's the perfect location for tourists. You are in the center of the medieval district, a 10 minute walk to the port, a quick taxi ride to the train station and countless restaurants, cafes, quaint stores and gelatarias right outside the door. There is awesome people watching from the large windows. We have stayed at dozens of apartments and hotels that we found through Booking.com over many years, and this apartment is in our top 3.
I always have at least one suggestion or negative note in my reviews, but there was nothing we didn't like about this apartment.

Verified reviewFabulous property. In a perfect position in the heart of the old city. The apartment is recently renovated, and to a beautiful standard. Simple, chic and extremely comfortable. Equipped with everything you could need. The owner, Andrea, has obviously gone to great lengths to create a luxury 5 star feel to the place. We couldn’t fault it. Andrea is also extremely helpful, giving us all the information and recommendations we could need for our stay.

Verified reviewThis is the best place to stay in the very very heart of Genoa. Andrea is the best host I have ever seen. He met with us to give us an introduction of the house and the city. He showed us the place of the carpark he was super nice and very much helped us to find our rental car agency as well. The place has a unique architecture and a very delicate design taste. You will feel that you are staying in a part of an old palace. The beds are comfy and the kitchen equipment is very much sufficient. We had a fantastic stay with our 7 year old daughter. I definitely recommend this place to everyone!

The apartment itself is beautifully kept, with all amenties required for a short/long stay. Andrea the host, was very helpful from start to finish and goes beyond expectations to make your visit worthwhile. Will definitely be booking again in the future!

Verified reviewBeautiful apartment which was finished to a very high standard throughout. The kitchen was very well equipped with good quality appliances and equipment. The bedroom was large and comfortable with ample storage space. The en suite bathroom was excellent. The lounge area had a comfortable sofa and large TV and nice decorative touches. The aircon worked effectively and efficiently. The location couldn't have been better. Directly opposite La Cattedrale di San Lorenzo and close to all the main attractions in Genoa. Via San Lorenzo is a noisy, bustling street but the windows in the apartment completely blocked out the noise, creating a quiet, calm environment in which to relax. Andrea was an excellent host. Communication prior to our stay was punctual and helpful. He met us on arrival and gave us a quick tour of the apartment and later supplied us with helpful links to local attractions, shops and restaurants. The welcome pack of prosecco, bottled water and a few treats was much appreciated. Would definitely stay here again.
It was all good.
