How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Was a bit of a walk from the center of town but was still doable

We had a wonderful experience at Altalena Luxury Rooms and Spa in Siena! Communication with the host was excellent from the moment we arrived—clear, friendly, and welcoming. The accommodation is just a short walk from the city center, making it ideal for exploring. Our room was spacious, impeccably clean, and tastefully decorated, creating a calming and inviting atmosphere. It really isn't a 'didn't like', but my partner who is very tall and has recently had double knee replacement struggled a bit to get in and out of the bed which is very low.
The Altalena in Siena was fabulous. We were warmly greeted and welcomed into the most amazing accommodation. The room is like staying with a friend from long ago. Every amenity was provided and the decor exquisite. I really enjoyed the stay and highly recommend the Altalena for a stay in Siena.

Apartman je lep, cist i uredan. Domacini su ljubazni i predusretljivi. Smestaj je blizu centra, peske 10-15min. Sve je za preporuku, jedino treba navesti kao napomenu da je i u apartmanu i u dvoristu apartmana zabranjeno pusenje. Takođe, treba pratiti napomene domacina vezano za put od/do centra, jer mapa moze pogresno da vas navede na stazu preko glavnog magistralnog puta, pa cete se morati vracati nazad ili uzeti taksi jer je drugacije nemoguce proci jer ne magistralnom putu nema trotoara. Ali sve u svemu apartman je ok :)

The only thing that bothered me it was the fact that the heat is not turned on at night when that week it was between 8 and 10 degrees. the fact that there are some local rules regarding heat management is not the tourist's business. as a tourist on vacation I want a minimum of comfort.
Despite other comments if anyone wants to visit de old town of Siena it is not far away...about 15 min walk to piazza del campo. The room has facilities over average you can find in Tuscany.

Nothing, just the terrace is not connected to the room; it is in the common zone. But a very small detail to be revised in the future.
The staff so nice and helpful. The owner Erika is an angel! They care you and treats you as a guest. The parking lot is free.

The room was very beautiful, clean, close to the old town. The host was very kind and helpful, giving us important information and being very available anytime we had a question to ask. There was also private parking at the property which is very helpful if you are travelling by car, especially in Siena where parking is usually a problem near the center. If we ever decide to come back to Siena we will gladly stay here again.

Everything was excellent! Very great value for money!
When we arrived we were very warm welcomed by the host, who was very nice and helpful, giving us recommendations for our visit to Siena. The property was super clean, as it was never touched by anyone before us. Everything was made nicely and with taste. Very convenient location, just few minutes walk to the city.

Power outlet for kettle didn’t work, so had to plug it in on the floor. No big deal. Had an issue with the shower head and soaked the bathroom floor. Be careful which way it’s pointed!
Lovely hostess. On site parking. Just a 10 minute walk to the Old Town. Code access was great.

Location, 50 minutes return hike to Central Piazza, so rather only one trip per day. Accommodation, no advertised terrace present in the room. Outdoor tables available on the outside common grassy area but in a full sun / one needs to leave the room go around the house and on return tap security codes on all entry doors/. Room, overwhelmingly cluttered with decorative bric and brac, no space left for your stuff and for yourself the only option is to CAMP on the bed. No room service whatsoever. Bathroom, shower glass panel too short expect to flood the floor. No towels exchange. Internet, weak and intermittent, we used our own mobile data network. Overall probably good for one night stopover, for us after 3 nights that was an immense relief to leave.
Off-street parking, welcome bottle of wine.
