Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsUnfortunately, the room was really not clean. Especially the kitchen and the bathroom felt dirty. In the bathroom, there were still soap packages from other guests. There were also stains on the glass. In the kitchen, we had to re-clean all the plates and glasses because of the stains. The floor also wasn't very clean.
The location of this hotel is amazing. We were close to all the sights, one of the best swimming spots, and a lot of restaurants. The room is also very big and has a small kitchenette. We arrived before the check-in time, but our room was already ready and we didn't have to wait at all!

SwitzerlandThe shower is a bit old.
Nicely located, 3 minutes walk to the sea where you can chill on the rock or go swimming. Walking distance to the other attractions. The garden is so beautiful, I spent quite some time just chilling there.

IrelandThe shower water was never fully hot, although this was not an actual issue as it was too warm outside to have a hot shower. We didn't even flag it to the staff. Nice and refreshing
Unbelievable location, 2-4 min away from the centre of Ortigia, less than a min walking from the sea. The building is quite ancient and built with stones, so the heat was never an issue, and when it was we had air-conditioning. The staff was super helpful and proactive, but discreet at the same time.

United KingdomThe receptionist a Spanish girl I think , I couldn’t tell you her name because she never introduced herself . Not friendly or welcoming at all . I booked and paid for breakfast upon arrival for the morning , which was good value and would we have gone everyday . A couple of interactions with miss personality and I left with my partner not having breakfast and not going back all week . I’ have just turned 60 and I have never walked out of anywhere .
Fantastic room , A1 . Cleaner very friendly and efficient .

United KingdomThe kitchenette had no tea towels, dishcloths or washing up liquid provided. I bought my own from a supermarket. Had only one wine glass, luckily I was travelling solo. Also, shockingly, no mugs! So I used the drinks glasses instead. The reception was on a separate part of the building to the apartment. I couldn’t be bothered to go to complain. The receptionist, which was the same person at check in and check out, didn’t seem very friendly. I tried to make small talk at check in but it wasn’t reciprocated. City tax was paid up front. When I handed my keys in and said I am checking out she just said “ okay, thank you “ No asking was everything okay, did you enjoy your stay, have a good or safe journey home. Perhaps she spoke limited English but surely she could have tried to smile or look pleasant. Also no free small bottle of water in the fridge for when you arrive feeling hot and dehydrated. At the price they charge, surely they could show a little generosity. If it hadn’t have been for these things I would have rated them excellent rather than good.
I didn’t pay the €10 daily charge for breakfast, as I had a kitchenette. Plenty of space in the apartment, seaview as well. Free aircon. Doors from sitting room , and also bedroom, opening on to a large veranda, with lights that could be used independently at either end. Kitchen table and a window with a view and shutters. Very quiet location but close to bars and restaurants.

SpainParking was a nightmare! Though they recommend a private parking, it was full. Really, REALLY DIFFICULT to find a Parking (always paying). It took us more than an hour to find a space, it it was quite far away from the hotel. And we were lucky! Parking is an impossible mission there!
A beautiful place in the heart of the old town.

MaltaThe kitchenette facilities could be improved — the electric hob wasn’t working, so we couldn’t heat our food. Our room cost €75 without breakfast, with an additional €10 per person for a continental breakfast.
Ideal location in the heart of Ortigia’s old town. The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was clean. A secure parking spot for our motorbike was also provided.

United KingdomThe external public areas are lovely but the rooms are shabby. We started off in the annexe (not main hotel) in a room that looked out at a nice courtyard but the room itself was dark and the bathroom 'tired' looking. The chairs in the courtyard needed a good clean so it wasn't possible to sit on them. We were able to move into the hotel itself into a lovely big space but it needed a refresh: the toilet seat was wonky and the sofa sagged. The bedroom with two beds was cramped (no need for such a large wardrobe in it).
Excellent location & very helpful staff who waited patiently for us to find our way there before closing for the siesta period. The rooms in the main hotel are really spacious. Breakfast (for an extra cost) was good.

AustriaAlthough our room was lovely, very stylish and had a lovely terrace amidst the roofs, the bathroom could get better care. The shower head was not holding well, and the cabin was missing a door. Still it did not take away our satisfaction during our stay.
We liked everything about it! The location was superb, like a secret gem! The building is historical, very beautiful. The most ancient mikveh in European is at the same building, so much worth the visit.

United StatesI loved the look and feel of the property. The hotel has tons of character. The room was very spacious and comfortable. It came with a small kitchenette. Breakfast, which included eggs made to order, was only €8 in the renovated historic dining rooms. My off season rate was extremely reasonable. The only thing I didn’t like was the poor internet reception. That might have been because my room was in a different building from the main area. I was worried while walking over that my room might not be as nice as others in the main building, but it was wonderful.

MaltaThe lighting at the top of the wooden steps to the top bedroom. I would suggest at night it might be precarious for someone with poor eyesight coming down to the bathroom. There was no light in the small kitchenette cupboard to see to pour boiling water from the kettle. Suggest one table lamp in lounge seating area would improve the ambience and facilitate reading. Toilet seat was wobbly needed fastening. That said I would definitely stay again
Breakfast at €8 excellent value and being march there was a log fire in the breakfast room. the architecture is very interesting. The sofas in the suite were very comfortable as were the beds with duvets. I would recommend it and definitely rebook the hotel again
