Nothing! It was fantastic! Just be prepared as there is a significant amount of walking to get to the property. However it’s great exercise and very scenic. Try to pack light or leave what you can in the car.

Unique experience in a beautiful cliffside village. Barbara is a wonderful host. Every detail was well thought out in the room. We were very comfortable and happy with our stay. View of as phenomenal and the room was well equipped with everything we needed. Bed was also very comfortable and the room was clean and well maintained. There is a beautiful swimming area in the village, even though it says there is no beach.

Occasional sewer smell. Opening windows helped. Bed was ok. During the day you can hear the train station loud speaker every 5 minutes.

Beautiful view of the sea with a balcony overlooking a small plaza. Spacious room with thoughtful touches like slippers and chocolates. The proprietor was super helpful and gave excellent directions.

You can hear the activity of the train station from the room. It’s quiet, but still audible so be aware of that if that is something that would bother you. Also, it’s an uphill trek to the room door, plus some stairs. But so is EVERYTHING in this area, so if that would bother you should just avoid Cinque Terre altogether.

Proximity to town and train station is great. Beautiful view and clean room. The host, Barbara, was easy to communicate with and very responsive. The area was very safe and easy to navigate. The private bathroom was great, shower was warm with good water pressure. The bedroom had two doors to one balcony overlooking a walking path with a small water view and one window with a picture-perfect water view.

This is a fantastic place to stay . It was small and compact but it has everything you need and so tasteful. The balcony is a real plus , so big and the views are amazing. I’d say one of the best in Manrola. We loved everything about it and would definitely recommend it highly.

The room was gorgeous and bright with sea views, big windows, and a lovely terrace. Barbara was a very helpful host and kept in contact with us to give instructions on getting to the property leading up to our stay. The location was perfect and the town of Manarola is charming, lively, and absolutely beautiful. This is one of the more expensive rooms we booked during our trip through northern Italy, and it was absolutely worth the price point for a magical couple nights. Highly recommend Alla Porta Rossa to anyone traveling to Cinque Terre!

Air conditioning may not be adequate for Americans in energy conservation focused Italy which is the same of all but the big hotels. We brought portable usb powered fans and it worked out fine. The balcony doors and windows are covered with sheers, not curtains. They look beautiful for the setting but there are lights outside for the walkway which is good for walking at night and safety. Not so good if you need darkness to sleep well.

Great location and beautiful view with a side balcony. Not of the village side which are the photos you are used to seeing of Manarola, but of the ocean on the other side. Very impressed with the pre-arrival message which included a walking video to show how to walk from the train station to the room - just a few minutes walk.

Access is uphill and stairs to climb with your luggage but we were informed of that before renting the place. Some instructions by the owner were a little stiff. Air conditionning was off when we arrived in the room on a hot day.

Superb city to rent a room if you are in the area. Room was renovated, clean and was cleaned also the next day a service we only have in hotels normaly. Decoration is nice, air conditioning was strong enough, view was nice. Bed comfort was also top notch. The owner did a great follow up and she was nice. She also helped us the day we were leaving to find a place to store our luggage for a few hours !

We Stayed at the "Crème Caramel" apartment for the first night and it was amazing. The view from the terrace was breathtaking looking over the whole street and the sea view of Manarola. Waking up and eating breakfast with the sun rising was definitely one of my favourite memories. The hygiene and cleanliness were always clean. The rules and directions were direct and understandable. The host was very nice and sweet and helped us out in every way possible. Kitchen was also fully equipped. There was also a balcony with the train station, sea and street view which was also comfortable to walk back and forth from the terrace. Although the apartment might look small, it was actually very comfortable. The location was also good as it was easy access to any shops nearby and the train station. Locals were also very nice and helpful. For the short time we stayed it was an exceptional stay and would definitely go back again.

All was very good. It is tight quarters, especially the bathroom, but perfectly done. A beautiful place inside and out!

You could not ask for a better location. One massive deck/patio overlooking the town and sea and another one overlooking the see. We lived on the decks in the early morning and evenings. The views were spectacular! The room itself had everything you need and was presented so well. We were able to wash our clothes, we had a coffe maker, dishwasher etc. Barbara is so pleasant and if we had questions, she responded immediately. Honestly, we can't say enough great things about our experience in Manarola, all driven by a great location to stay and experience the beautiful towns!!
