Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwitzerlandVery attentive and friendly staff, knowledgeable too! If you are passionate about history and stories you can learn the history of this place: a hidden gem. Walking along the park where Lord Byron and Mary Shelly walked, it was a real gift. The Villa is immersed in the nature where you can really forget about problems. Also the restaurant has a very nice ambiance ( we had dinner outside under the trees )

United KingdomI loved it. Guests should be aware that there are two flights of (20 steps for each flight!) stairs to ascend -no problem for us but may concern others?
Such a special and lovely place to stay, we were in the Presidential suite with beautiful painted ceilings. We could actually see the Leaning Tower in the distance from our bedroom (air conditioning unit extremely welcome) Breakfast served outside (you go inside for the buffet) and it feels like you're on a film set.... stunningly beautiful if you like lovely old gardens and a sense of history and the classy, stylish glamour of an aristocratic bygone age! We paid for a tour with the delightful and charming owner of the villa which was wonderful.

HungaryOn our very last night there were some drunk guests who were quite loud, but this I guess is just part of the game when the wine is too delicious.
The staff members were wonderful to us and to our dog, everything and everybody was welcoming and kind! The room was clean and with the air conditioning we could cool it down easily. The garden is amazing, our dog was loving every meter of it, just like us.

GermanyWow, wow, wow. A romantic dream and such a relaxed atmosphere. This was the highlight of my holidays this year. A beautiful Renaissance Villa, now used as a hotel and venue space but very personal. The romantic beauty of this place with a lot of pastiche of a grand past mixed with absolutely fantastic stuff, that made our stay extra special, you felt like noble people of their grand tour. Extra Highlight: Mary Shelly and Lord Byron stayed in this Villa as well. It was just perfect for us and the young woman who organised the breakfast was a delight. It as a once in a lifetime experience and we will come back.

ChinaJust a small note: there were a few minor bug issues in the room, which might need attention.
A great value-for-money stay! The place is full of history and prestige, inspiring visitors to imagine the glorious past of its former hosts. For me, as a Chinese traveler, it felt almost like visiting a museum. The staff were very friendly and responsive, and the breakfast was wonderful.

EstoniaThe room was a bit dated, but we did not mind, it was still grand.
We spent one night to visit Pisa and Lucca, both are conveniently close. The villa is amazing, first driving onto the grounds we could not believe that's where we're staying. The view from our window was just great! Breakfast was exceptionally good and varied, even scrambled eggs and bacon was offered. We also had dinner in the trattoria, can recommend the set menu, it was the best value dinner we had during whole trip. And it was fun!

Germany-
We were looking for accomodations near Pisa and found this beautiful villa. Neatly located in a park with rooms still having the charme of the old days. Beautiful paintings on the ceiling, nice hall, far enough of bigger roads to be silent but still less than 15min to Pisa and Lucca. We had a 4 bed appartement for us and our kids and really enjoyed it. Breakfast is typically italian with nice cakes. There is a very good restaurant on site as well that you should try (no Pizza but much better local food and wine)!

BelgiumLots of stairs to get to rooms (it's a castle, after all!), so might be difficult for those with mobility issues. We loved our family suite, but you need to walk through one bedroom to reach the toilet (at night it could be an issue). They offered a WC not far away on the same floor to avoid waking the others, it was fine.
It was lovely sleeping in such a beautiful castle. Beautiful, clean rooms with everything you need. Dinner and breakfast were fantastic. They let you park in front of the building to unload luggage. Be sure to ask the receptionist to see the rooms on the main floor - they're gorgeous.
