Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaDo not take your luggage just use a small bag of what you need as you are unable to drive up to the hotel
The location and views are exceptional, and the hotel is beautifully appointed in keeping with the character and charm of the building We did not have dinner there, however the restaurant is apparently excellent

GermanyA big drawback but difficult to remedy because of the constraints posed by the splendid architecture: There is no air condition. On one of the hottest days of the past decade this made sleeping a bit difficult. Basically a choice between widely opening all windows and being eaten by mosquitos, or closing them and getting steamed. Also, the parking situation is a bit unusual. In the morning, when I had to walk 300 meters through a thunderstorm with torrential rain to get to the car, I not only got all the cooling down I had been praying for during the night but much more of it.
The Building and its location are spectacular. A lovingly maintained Art Deco building with completely preserved interiors from the 1920s is not easy to find. I will come back, but not in the heat of summer.

United StatesNothing. Our stay was wonderful!
We had a beautiful lake view from our windows. The bathroom was large. There were steps to get to our room, this was expected and understood because the hotel is a historic one. Everything was very clean, bed was very comfortable and other furniture in the room was adequate. Breakfast was really good, they offered many choices for beverages and food, way better than a continental breakfast. We liked the historic atmosphere of the hotel and area. They have their own coffee shop inside the hotel that locals use, this is a huge plus for us. The romantic dinner was adorable with all the candles and great service, the food was delicious (I eat a vegetarian diet and they made some of the best vegetarian dishes I have ever tasted). We liked the charm and hope to come back again someday.

AustraliaRestaurant food was overpriced and portions very small.
The unique location, high in a historic village on a hill behind Varese. Staff were excellent. Room was large with comfy, king size bed and views to the lakes. We woke to the sound of the church bells.

LatviaThe allure of opening the windows to let in fresh air was quickly dampened by the romantic noises—mainly the creaking beds and distant laughter from neighboring rooms. If you’re a light sleeper, this might pose a challenge. We were the loud/romantic ones, no problem for us :)
The Al Borducan Romantic Hotel, nestled in the medieval village of Sacro Monte di Varese, offers a unique blend of vintage charm and modern comfort. The hotel is housed in an elegant Liberty-style villa dating back to 1924. Its location within the UNESCO World Heritage Site adds to its allure. Rooms and Facilities: Each of the ten individually decorated guestrooms retains the original Art Nouveau style, complemented by choice vintage furniture. Modern amenities such as satellite TV, telephone, safe, free Wi-Fi, minibar, and en suite bathrooms ensure a delightful stay. Dining Experience: The hotel’s restaurant, aptly named the “Love Restaurant,” sets the stage for romantic moments. Candlelit dinners and lunches on the panoramic terrace offer breathtaking views. Please note that the restaurant policy restricts dinner service to adults only. Precious Moments of Relaxation: Whether sipping afternoon tea, enjoying a glass of wine on the terrace, reading a book in the garden, or resting in one of the cozy rooms, Al Borducan provides precious moments of relaxation. Overall Impression: Al Borducan Romantic Hotel is a hidden gem—a splendid venue for special occasions and unforgettable memories.
