How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewRoom very clean, large and comfy double bed, large bathroom with a walk in shower. I liked the internet system to open / lock the gate and the room door, everything done by your phone of course the internet connection is essential. Lovely self-service breakfast with a tray arranged by the host in your room to be taken by the same guests to the breakfast / terrace room.

Verified reviewEverything was very clear from the start. Check-in, policies. The room was extra clean. The reception was lovely and helpful. The location is really calm. I would recommend this hidden pearl! The atmosphere in the building is lovely, tasteful the design is really modern and beautiful but at the same time, everything is where (facilities). The breakfast policy is amazing. I feel like visiting a lovely friend.

Verified reviewClean & it had an A/C unit which was very much needed as it was incredibly hot. The location was a lovely residential area in Bergamo. Peaceful but with all the necessary facilities & very safe.
The staff refused to call a taxi for me. I've never come across this in any hotel I've ever been to. In addition, the "breakfast " was very misleading. Some snacks are left in the room in a box on a table & the receptionist pointed this out to me as my "breakfast ". As I was leaving; I asked if I could leave my luggage as I needed to run some errands. The receptionist said she will be gone in an hour. A small reception area. Most unhelpful. The mattress was a bit hard as well but bearable considering how hot it was. Lastly, there were 2 big windows with sheer curtains, no block out curtains or blinds. I had to change in the bathroom...

The check-in needed to be done remotely beforehand to get a code to open the door and even the front gate. I had internet problems and needed to find wifi to check-in before even entering the premises. Perhaps just too modern system for me, but not convenient. Breakfast was included but it was just dry biscuits and coffee (I know it’s the Italian way, but I would not advertise this).

Verified reviewI liked everything but the "Digital key" system to open the door.
Accessing the room was a nightmare every single time. It ONLY required a phone to access the room. The "Digital key" system to open the door with your phone from a link they sent through email and i had to look for it through my hundreds of emails every single time i had to enter the room was horrible. I mean really, really, REALLY horrible. We stayed 2 nights and i was the only one able to open the door from my phone. My wife could not BEACAUSE the link would not work from other people's phones. So every time she had to go the room, she had to call me, so I could open the door remotely for her. Serioulsy? There was a time that my phone was not responding and i had to stay out 10 minutes till my phone decided to start working (after a restart). The next day, i had to shut down my phone at 30% while visiting Bergamo Alta because i was afraid that the battery would be deplited and i could no longer access the room at the end of the long day. So my phone was all the time off while going around. I could not receive calls or take pictures with my phone. Not good at all! Every single time i had to leave the room, even for just 5 seconds, I had to make sure that my phone was in my pocket, otherwise you would be stuck outside once the doors closes. Tecnology is supposed to make our life better and convenient but this is going backwards. A simple thing like a normal physical key invented thousands of years ago would work a million times better. We were really really stressed about this. It made the whole stay very unpleasant.

Verified reviewMy experience was overall very good. The hotel was great, and I really enjoyed my stay. However, the only downside was the breakfast. It was more like a selection of snacks rather than a proper meal. As someone who travels around the world, I’ve often paid less and received much better breakfast options. A good breakfast really makes a difference when you’re traveling. If the hotel improves the breakfast, it would truly be one of the best places to stay.

Verified reviewThe location was within easy walking distance of restaurants and the historic centre of Bergamo but also close to the bus stop. The owner was so helpful regarding onward travel and my dietary requirements. Thank you.
The checking in process was a bit annoying because it necessitates a mobile phone and internet access. Not the quickest of procedures for some.
