We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThere are several flights of steep stairs to get up to the room. There was also a slight issue with the property holding our luggage after check out, we had arranged to get it held but no one was at the office to help, so we ended up leaving Riomaggiore early. The owner did apologise but it did mean we had to head straight to the train station.
The property is in a great central location, near to lots of small shops, restaurants and cafes. The room was spotless and fully stocked with snacks. The check in and check out processes were very simple and open communication with the owner was helpful.

The location was great, being on the main strip with all amenities at your doorstep. The apartment was very comfortable and the essentials (including coffee pods and laundry powder) were provided in abundance. Thank you

AustraliaNo aircon in the living area and no microwave to warm up yummy leftovers. Very minor issues.
The location is amazing. In the main street and not too far up the hill, which was great for tired legs. The front staircase is very steep, but we only used that once for check-in. There is a back door which is easier access. The apartment is big for cinque terre. It's newly renovated and so gorgeous. I would come back and stay here in a heartbeat. Love it a

United StatesWe really enjoyed our stay at this unit in Riomaggiore. The location was excellent—close to everything, yet far enough from the crowds to feel peaceful. In Cinque Terre, stairs are everywhere, so accessibility is key. This unit was one of the more accessible options: it's reachable via the main road from the train station (mostly gentle inclines), with just one flight of steps (about 14 steep stairs) to reach the unit's door. The unit has both a front and back door. The back door offers another route with slightly fewer and less steep steps, which we found helpful. There was a small mix-up with Booking.com where our reservation was recorded for 3 people instead of 4. Because of this, we had to pay for the additional guest upon arrival, along with the nightly city tax in euros. The host had also set up the second bedroom with two single beds pushed together, but once we explained that our 22-year-old son and 18-year-old daughter needed separate beds, they quickly helped separate them and provided individual bedding. The hosts were responsive, helpful, and accommodating throughout. We’re especially glad we chose to stay in Riomaggiore, as it allowed us easy and flexible access to the Via dell’Amore trail. From there, we were able to hike the entire Cinque Terre coastline—starting in Riomaggiore and ending in Monterosso al Mare—taking in the beautiful scenery of each village along the way. After completing the hike, we took the train back to Riomaggiore, which was convenient and efficient. Francesca and Daniela, our hosts, were excellent. They provided discount codes for train and hiking passes and kindly allowed us to leave our luggage at the unit after checkout so we could enjoy a boat tour on our final day without worry. Overall, this was a great stay, and we would definitely recommend the unit to anyone visiting Cinque Terre!

United StatesWe were really very happy with our stay. The stairs from the street up to the rooms are steep and if you have mobility issues, this is not the place for you.
Very close to the train station, and if you want a super quiet location, the restaurants and tourist street noise might not be to your liking, although the building was very soundproof, and once the windows were shut, we had no problem sleeping. Rooms are very cozy, Great towels, and supplies in a nice bathroom. Incredibly friendly and helpful host.

United StatesThe apartment is on the 3 floor, and as expected in such an old building there is no elevator, which was not a problem for us! But is something others might need to be aware of.
The location is excellent right on the main street of Riomaggiore and 5 minutes from the train station. There are 2 mini Coop supermarkets just steps away from the apartment and several restaurants. With all the touristic activities going right below it could be noisy but the window is great and blocks absolutely all noise. The kitchen has another window to the back that gives you another completely different look: the life of the locals. I loved that! The apartment was equipped with everything we needed like oils/salt/pepper and even coffee, teas and snacks that were replenished in the middle of our 5 nights stay along with fresh towels and cleaning. We absolutely loved the town and the place. Daniela was extremely attentive and the comunication was excellent all thru out our stay. She provided detailed instructions to purchase the different passes needed to move around Cinque Terre. She was able to allow us and earlier check in and offer a late check out since we were there not at the peak of the season. And for the same reason we didn't use the heater or AC. Internet is very good as the beds and the 2 different types of pillows that are available. We were really impressed with everything about this place!

We had an amazing holiday visiting Cinque Terre and so glad we picked Riomaggiore as our base and the one bedroom apartment at Anna Michielini for our accommodation for 6 nights. The location is perfect as situated on the main street of Riomaggiore. So easy to find from train station and everything you need on holiday is right there. Our host Francesca was so helpful providing us with loads of information. For anyone in UK who wants to see the location watch BBC iPlayer Amanda & Alan's Italian Job - season 2 episode 2 where Riomaggiore is featured and they film in Via Colombo where Affittacamere Anna Michielini is situated. We will definitely return and stay here again.

United StatesBeing right in middle of the town, and being on the 3rd floor, there is lot of street noise that filters up. Almost every night (late) or morning (early) was the ritual of the "dumping of the bottles" into the trash. A very noisy process that takes a few minutes to complete. The first flight of stairs is very steep.
The location of the room was perfect. Right above the main street in Riomaggiore. Plenty of restaurants and shops just down the stairs. And the train station is less than 10 minutes away. The room was very clean and functionable. The support we received was excellent! They provided everything you might need, restaurants recommendations, things to see and do. And they respond to questions very quickly!

MexicoAs noted before the stairs are quite steep so you need to be careful going up or down. Noise of people strolling in the street during the day and early evening but definitely controllable with the soundproof windows.
Great location, clean, well equipped and very cosy property. The owner and her daughter went out of their way to help us even carrying my luggage up the stairs! Very nice people and we enjoyed our stay

Great location, right on the main street close to shops & restaurants. Excellent double glazed windows kept any street noise out of the apartment. The kitchen was equipped with a stovetop to cook pasta! Combine with fresh local pesto from the deli & is divine!!! Great shower & extremely comfortable beds. Air con units were also good. Could’ve stayed longer. A wonderful apartment & highly recommend.

GermanyThe apartments located in the center of Riomaggiore, with a lovely view on the picturesque main road. Everything one needs is right in front of the door, a small coup, if you want to coop or buy some snacks for the hoking trip, and a variety of restaurants. We spend the evenings at the beautiful water front with a refreshing spritz. The host Daniele is really helpful, sharing useful information about the area and the hiking path + cinque Terre card. Would come back!

CanadaThe host, Daniela, was amazingly welcoming and quick to respond. Even before arriving to the apartment she sent all her recommendations on restaurants and activities to do in Riomaggiore and Cinque Terre. We were visiting Cinque Terre for our honeymoon and when we arrived, she treated us to a bottle of delicious sparkling white wine and we thought that was the sweetest gesture :') The location of the apartment was perfect. It was a relatively short walk from the train station located on the main road, and very easy to find. The apartment itself was the perfect size for two people, with a functioning kitchen and spacious bedroom. My favourite little detail was all the little Italian snacks that Daniela set out for us and they came in very handy during our long days of exploring. We had no issues whatsoever during our stay.
