How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The hosts were very friendly. It is sad that we did not have any common language so I did not get to know them much. It is located not too far from the centre so easy to walk to most places.

There is a steep road behind the apartment that motorcyclists like to race up. Not all night, just the odd once or twice. It was jolting to be awoken from a deep sleep. Nothing the hosts can do anything about - it is a big, crowded city. Would not stop me from staying one night again In the future.
Close to the train station and buses. An easy 8 to 10 minute walk. Very clean and private. Secure locks on all of the doors. This is a private apartment where the hosts live, renting out one room. Hosts are very easy and pleasant to communicate with.

Neighbourhood a little run-down but seemed safe. Advertises kitchen but we were not that this was not part of the booking (as the room was part of her house). There was a kettle, fridge and coffee machine in the room. The dining room was available to use.
Easy check-in instruction and given timely. Wonderful host, very friendly and helpful. Very tidy apartment/home. Location handy to train and bus. Allowed us to store luggage on day of departure.

The hosts are super friendly and helpful, and gave me all the information I needed. It was no problem that I checked in very late due to delays on the train either. Very quiet at night and comfy beds. The bathroom is cleaner than any other I have seen on my holidays so far. Just a great place, highly recommend.

Excellent room. Comfortable with a very good AC. Hostess was wonderful. Walkable from train/bus station. A bus stops right in front from station. Has got a carrefour express nearby. Toilet was shared but wonderful shower and no issues at all. Thank you!

When I have to spend some time in Genova, I always try to stay in this structure, if available. Thry are really kind, the room and beds are very comfortable and it is well located, close to the railway station Genova Piazza Pricipe.

Accommodation is in the hostess apartment, where you have your own room and a shared bathroom. The apartment was very clean and my room was ready on arrival. The hostess was very nice, she made sure I had everything and if I needed anything. Communication was very fast. I felt very comfortable in her apartment, I would stay here again during my next visit. The location of the accommodation is great. The main sights are within walking distance. There is a metro and bus station about 5 minutes' walk from the house, from where you can get to the airport or other parts of Genoa.

Luisa is a very kind and friendly host who made me feel comfortable in her home. The modern apartment is kept very tidy and clean! I only spent a night in the apartment and had booked without breakfast. However, there were supplies to prepare coffee and tea and a supermarket nearby. Luisa gave excellent instructions on how to reach the apartment, so it was easy to find. Grazie Luisa!

When during the evening I entered the hall of the apartment block, in which the casa is located on the fourth floor, it seemed in the half dark that I had entered a construction site. Only the next day with daylight I saw that a completely new, nice looking elevator was being built (style: open glass cage). The elevator will be finished very soon. Hopefully the stairwell will also get un upgrade, resulting in a much welcoming atmosphere upon entry.
The host is a nice, pleasant lady. The external bathroom is kept very much spic & span.

Single bed was small. Sharing a bathroom and a toilet with the hosts.
Location was good easy from the Flixbus stop. The hosts were lovely, very helpful.
