Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

RomaniaRecommendations: Would be nice to have softer towels. Breakfast would be even better with more fruits and veggies.
Excellent location just steps from Fegina (Il Gigante) beach! The hotel is only a comfortable 5–6 minute walk from Monterosso train station – and since it’s not located uphill, that’s a big plus when carrying luggage. It’s a family-run hotel with a charming retro vibe, overall very pleasant. Rooms are on the smaller side, but honestly, you don’t come to Cinque Terre to stay indoors. Bedsheets were clean, beds comfortable, and the A/C worked well. One of the highlights is the wide outdoor terrace, perfect for enjoying a drink from the hotel bar and relaxing late into the evening. They also provide beach towels and umbrellas, which is a thoughtful bonus. Special thanks to Maria (the owner) and Ricardo, who were both very kind and helpful. I asked for a room change, and they accommodated my request immediately, no questions asked. Monterosso al Mare is my favorite of all the Cinque Terre towns, because it is more lively and has proper beaches. I originally chose 5 Terre Hotel for its proximity to the beach and train station, but I would definitely return.

United StatesThe only issue was the shower was small.
Everything about this hotel was special. Maria was very welcoming and helpful. They were constantly cleaning the grounds and rooms. The bar was great and the breakfast spectacular! And don't forget the outside patio area with the parakeets chattering! What more can I say? We loved it!! Muchas gracias Maria!!

CanadaOnly critique would be the beds in my room with my daughter were a bit floppy and not very comfortable, but otherwise we had a great time. It is SO much closer to the beach than we thought it would be.
The family that owns and runs the hotel were lovely and you can tell they take pride in their establishment. The reviews about the breakfast and the family were why I booked this hotel and they exceeded the expectations.

HungaryA fridge would have been nice in the room. The breakfast lacked in variety but it was mostly compensated by the good location and the price.
Excellent location, the hotel is very close to the beach.

Poland- size of the room and bathroom (could be more spacious); - breakfasts (more accustomed to continental ones, with larger varieties of food/drinks).
- proximity to "Spiaggia del Gigante" (~5 minute walk); - general cleanliness and quietness of the hotel; - proximity to train station (~12 minute walk); - room cleaning staff.

United KingdomI love the retro vibe of this hotel. It’s family run and they were so nice and accommodating when we had to shorten our stay at the last minute to avoid the train strikes. Location is great and less than 5 minutes from one of the public beaches.

ItalyIs not that I dont like, but the hotel is old and needs some sort of new things. The room doesn’t have a fridge, doesnt have a coffee maker or a water boiler. However you can ask at the bar down to store your items in their fridge, and also water 24/7. They are slowly slowly improving things. The most important is that there was a solution for everything. Bedsheets and bed mattresses are also a bit old. However they are in good condition but a renovation must be done here too.
Location is super close to the beach of the new part of Monterosso and to train station, in a calm area. Staff are amazing, they are all super friendly and always able yo help us. AC and Wifi works perfect. Breakfast was fair. Theres always room for improvement on food but it has all necessary things you need in the morning. (Eggs for me) which is hard to find in italian breakfast. The hotel area and facilities is nice, with and old italian style, super cozy and clean.

United StatesThe A/C although working in the room was hard to get to the optimal desired temp otherwise the room was adequate for our needs.
The staff was very personable and made you feel very welcome. They have a very nice breakfast room with all types of coffee pastry, meats cereal and fruit put out every morning. The hotel is in a very nice area walking distance to anything in Monterosso. There are many dining options and the beach is the main attraction which is a very short walk.

SwedenNot so varied breakfast. Bathroom and furniture is very much 80’ies. The blankets from 70’ies or 80’ies would be good to change to something fresher like light duvets. The cage for the canary birds need to be cleaned more often to be a positive experience for the guests.
Clean rooms. Nice staff in reception, bar and cleaning. Good location near the beach. Quiet area, nice garden. Smooth check in and check out.

SwedenSafe did not work, towel warmer was not turned on in May. Towel warmer is not only for towels, but also for drying bathing suits, etc and very good to have when rinsing hiking clothes. Some warm dishes at breakfast would be nice, more variation of cheeses.

New ZealandNothing unusual with this hotel - we struck the same issue most places we stayed We were on the road in Europe for 40 days living out of our suitcases hence we had a larger size suitcase each which there wasn’t enough space to open one at a time let alone both Any stacker type options available apart from getting a larger room ?
Hotel very central to all the activities - staff extremely helpful with information / advice / suggestions
