How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

There is a restaurant at the accommodation. That's why I booked here. The host informed me that the restaurant was not working when it was no longer possible to cancel.
The breakfast is nice and plentiful. There are restaurants nearby by car in Hella and Hvolsvöllur .

The position is not great if you want to explore the surroundings, every time you have to do 15 Min drive one way to get from the hotel to the road nr.1

The water was only warm rather than hot in the shower. The location is inconvenient to restaurants.

Dinner was excellent but rather expensive. Breakfast below the normal standard level despite should be well above considering the cost of the room.
Comfortable room (even if small for 3 people) and quiet atmosphere.

Food was excellent but a bit expensive for what you got , I like my food, portions of veg etc were minuscule to say the least.
Personally I loved this hotel. Perfect if you’re travelling on the ring road. However it’s a bit off the beaten track.

The hot tub picture is a bit deceiving. Having said that, we did not get a chance to use it. It is also very remote, but all the properties on the south coast I think are.
It was absolutely fine! We really appreciated having a queen and a single bed room for our 13 year old. Our dinner was surprisingly good!!!! Seriously…. We were expecting decent, but it was delicious!

The curtains design was not great given the midnight sun would need fully blackout curtains to sleep comfortably, food was slightly expensive than other hotels I have seen. But it was fresh and good.

When we arrived, there was a slight, strange smell in the room. We couldn’t quite tell whether it came from a cleaning product, moisture, or something else. Since we only stayed one night, it wasn’t a big issue. The hot pot was great in theory, but unfortunately the water was far too cold (according to the digital display, it was only 35.5°C). When we came to breakfast, there were still 30 minutes left until closing time. Unfortunately, it was obvious that the staff had already stopped taking care of the buffet.
The bathroom in our room was fantastic (even with underfloor heating). The staff was always attentive and friendly – special greetings to the lovely lady from the kitchen who served us dinner and had a nice chat with us about Iceland, Germany, and life in general. The potato soup and the homemade bread were a 10/10 – absolutely exquisite!

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Vos! Everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful, and we felt truly welcome. We highly recommend it and would love to come back!

The hotel is located in a tiny village, but for those who value being in nature is perfect. The other reason I loved it, as the owner is a fan of auroras and he his friend made us profi photos of us, when the aurora finally appeared. it was amazing!!!!

Staff a little inexperienced. Restaurant menu not great and no real explanation of the chefs specials. I think overall the room was a little overpriced compared to other hotels in the area.
Amazing size room and very warm and comfortable. We saw the northern lights by chance which was amazing.
