How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewHorrible experience, bad communication. They force guests to come before 9 p.m., even there is coded key box and entrance into the building is easy. So just simple description or SMS is needed. We tryed to contact them via telephone, e-mail and SMS around 4 p.m. the day of our 1 night stay, because we needed to come later. On the third attempt, someone answered our phone. The man apparently did not understand English well, he handed the phone to a woman who reluctantly told us that the codes for the accommodation had been sent to us by email, which was not true. We asked her to give us the codes by phone, she angrily gave them to us, but spoke so quickly that we were not able to catch them at all. Finally it seemed, we succeeded. Upon arrival at the accommodation, we managed to open one key box, but the code for the other did not work (we booked two apartments). Fortunately, my husband had a good idea and tried the keys from the opened apartment to the other closed door, which, surprisingly, we managed to unlock. We do not understand such behavior at all.

Verified reviewI booked two rooms with Kitchenette but the gave me regular rooms and the front office guy told me my rooms revere given to someone else. Tried calling the owner but no luck. Our groceries to cook dinner and breakfast were wasted bc no kitchen and we went to bed hungry.
The fact the property did not have the promised kitchenette and fridge made this place a nightmare bc we were going to do make dinner. Given it is no where to any other place in terms of location to get food, we were very upset bc we had to go to bed hungry.

Verified reviewFacilities were okay. Good for one night
The self check-in was super weird. Would not recommend this place if you are planning on arriving after 21:00. Received no reaction for my request to check in between 21-22, despite asking numerous times. Then we ensured we got there before 21:00 because we couldn’t cancel the accommodation anymore. We called the number 5 times but nobody picked up. Then we walked into the building to ask and the staff told us “he was not a manager” (in an unfriendly way) but did arrange the code for self check-in for us. We received a code for self check-in, which could have easily be sent online beforehand. Kitchenette was nice to have but very impractical (small knives, one stove pit).

The wifi was shut down in the morning and the water got over before we checked out.

Verified reviewThe location is convenient to the ring road. It seemed to have a little more room than many other places.
It wasn't clear where the room was. Thankfully there was someone in the main building to direct us. It is not real close to most shopping needs, so plan for that.

Verified reviewLiked having the kitchenette.
Didn’t like having to call when we arrived to find out our room # and code to get into the room. Would be much more convenient to have it provided before arrival or have someone at reception.

Verified reviewTwo nice staff I met by chance, they helped me to solve my problem, which the host could not, would not. If it wasn't for these two, I would have had to sleep outdoors with my child. It was the worst welcome I have ever met.
We arrived on time. No one was at reception. I did not receive any message about how to pick up the key. I called the phone number provided. A lady answered and asked me which hotel I was staying at. I answered. She hung up the phone. I then called 34 times for an hour, she never answered the phone and never called me back. At the end I saw a cleaning lady in the corridor asking if she could help me. She could not call the hotel person either. In the end she gave me a key to a basic room which was not the one I had booked. I booked a fully equipped apartment and only got a basic room. Reading the comments, I can see that I was not the only one. Never, ever try to book a room at this hotel, you may have to sleep under the stars. After arriving home, I complained about the basic room and the inconvenience and asked for a refund. I did not receive any reply. I asked Booking customer service to help me. They denieded everything, according to them everything was fine.

Verified reviewIt was clean, the location was good for viewing the aurora. In person, it looked exactly like in the photos, though it felt much colder.
We stayed in Iceland for 13 days and changed accommodations every day, alternating between guest houses and hotels. This one, located near what seems to be an abandoned hotel, is by far the worst of all, starting with the check-in procedure: you receive a message specifically instructing you to call a number upon arrival, where an extremely annoyed and unpleasant person answers, though they did provide clear instructions. Upon entering the room, we found it cold. The bathroom is huge but nevertheless uncomfortable and bare. Poor quality furniture. No charging outlets near the two bedside tables. The Wi-Fi was practically nonexistent. However, it was clean. Definitely not recommended for those looking for a warm and comfortable environment. It’s okay for anyone who doesn't mind settling for less.

Verified reviewWe liked everything about our stay. It has nice kitchenette and comfortable beds. Great location. Attached bathrooms was the added facility.
The floor of our room was squeaky which was bit annoying as soon as we were walking on it. An oven could have been helpful to cook ready to eat meals.

Verified reviewI really liked the view and to be in the middle of nowhere.
To make our stay even better there could have been salt and olive oil (even a really small dose) to leave in the kitchenette in case guests wanted to cook (which we did, but had to go out to buy these two basic things)
