Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesWhat a idyllic spot! The staff were so warm and friendly. The bed was super comfortable and the place was very quiet. This is a great place to stay for a couple of days. We would have liked to take a horse ride but had not planned enough time. Do yourself a favor and reserve a ride too.

United KingdomThere was a weird sulphur smell coming from water. We learn that is true for most of north (experienced same in Akuyeri as well). Nothing specific to property, but something to be mindful of.
First experience of living on the farm! You will love the views from the property + kitchen is very well equipped. Rooms are spacious and there is plenty of space to park your car. We went in summers, but i can imagine it being equally beautiful in winters as well. Farm has 200+ horses! Only 5km/5min drive from Husavik city center!

United StatesNote there was a blizzard and when we parked our car snow was up to our knees so wish we had better directions on where to park which was around the house and back.
It’s quaint right outside of town. We were there in October and drove through a blizzard (literally) and got there a little late so we didn’t see anyone but a cute little sticky with a room key with our name. The shared kitchen had everything needed to cook a nice meal from the grocery store just 1/2 mile away. We had room 4 which had a great picture window where we did see northern lights. Now it is a converted cow shed so not a typical hotel so go with mindset of a unique Iceland experience.

United StatesWe had an amazing stay at Saltvik farm! The property has stunning views and the rooms are in a converted cow barn. The room was quiet and cozy and had everything we needed. The staff at check-in were nice and the location is wonderful... right outside of town. This place will always be special to us as we got to see an incredible northern lights show for the first time. The lights were right outside the front door and we were the only ones around to fully enjoy the experience. Truly magical!!

IrelandJust one thing that the double bed were actually 2 single beds clubbed side by side.
The rooms are nice and spacious, also basic amenities like kettle and hair dryer were provided. The view of the snow mountains from the front side parking is amazing. They had a fully equipped kitchen with microwave and oven. There's also a small refrigerator for customers. Staff is sweet and friendly.

GermanySaltvik Farm Guesthouse is what it's name says: A Farm (with lots of Icelandic horses), where you can stay in rooms in a converted barn. It's quite basic, but you've got all you need. Especially the bathroom was a bit small, but everything worked well. The seasonal workers from different countries (in our case Germany, Austria and Switzerland), who are also doing guided horse-tours, were very nice. They were in charge of preparing the breakfast (and go grocery shopping) as well. And the breakfast was extraordinary. I want to say a special thank you to Claire! If you book a riding holiday with them (probably not through booking.com) it's all-inclusive with soup for lunch and an evening meal as well as some excursions e.g. to geosea. Lunch and dinner are not available for overnight-guests, but Húsavík is only a five minutes drive away and we got very good recommendations from Claire.

Everything was perfect, especially the sweet dog and a cat and their horses in the farm, the location, the breakfast, the other people who were staying in the farmhouse with who we shared the common kitchen. Excellent experience.
