How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Stairs to top floor were too small for me to carry my suitcase up to my room, so I had to leave it in the storage room downstairs. A slight inconvenience though it was only for a short time and obviously because of the old architecture of the building
Great location and a beautifully maintained house with fantastic facilities. Clean shared bathroom, cosy room with all needed amenities and a well stocked, clean kitchen

We loved the location and being able to walk to the harbor and all of the shops and restaurants. The room was clean and comfortable and the house itself was very charming. A great place to stay.

The rooms could do with having a TV as there was NO lounge to sit in during the day or evening.
The guest house was in a good location to the centre of Reykjavik to get around. There was no staff around for the two days we stayed. We did see a cleaner preparing rooms for next guests arriving.

A cosy room in a cute house in a residential neighborhood. Great location close to the city center and the harbour. We enjoyed having breakfast in the tiny and well-equipped kitchen.

Washer and Dryer was located in an upstairs bathroom that was very often occupied so it was difficult to access
Convenient, very close to where other family members stayed. I liked the fact that it had 2 single beds

It was a comfortable stay close to the city center. Having a sink in the room was really good and everything was clean. Also being able to use the washing machine for free. It was lovely to have a kettle, tea bags and some coffee in the room to use for breakfast.

The location was very close to the city centre ams the parking was just in front of the house! The accommodation was very comfortable and even with a shared bathroom we enjoyed our stay!

The kitchen is very tiny, so can't be used by more than a group at the time
The location is marvellous to visit Reykjavik: the center is walking distance and the surroundings are very pleasant. The rooms are comfortable, although not very wide

Very nice place. It has everything you need! Kitchen is a bit small so when you have a family of 4 sitting there it is a bit tricky to cook (this comment is more for people to consider it than for the owners of course 🙂)

The location is great — Reykjavik is a small city, so it’s convenient no matter where you stay. Although the bathroom and shower are shared, they were cleaned regularly and kept very tidy by the staff.

The shared showers and toilets are not for everyone, but they are extremely clean and spacious, and very private at this guesthouse.
The apartment is a good size for 2 people so as a single traveller, I had plenty of room. The bed was comfortable and the showers were very good. The blackout curtains did a pretty good job at night. The apartment complex is easy to find and access, and was very quiet during my stay. There are plenty of public transport options nearby. The communication with the hosts is excellent. They provide some very nice teas in your room as an additional comfort. The share kitchen is small but well equipped and there is plenty of space in the fridge for storage.

Comfortable & clean rooms with all you need in a fabulous location! We had three stays over a 2 week period, in between hikes & trips. It was a great place to come back to and being able to leave some luggage while off hiking was super handy. Access to washing machine and dryer was also great for us!

Wish they had private bathrooms.
This place is exceptionally clean, the best location for the harbor and old town and a lovely place to stay. I would happily go back.
