Beautiful location. Rustic feel. Good restaurant. Lovely lounge upstairs. Kind staff.

Portions at restaurant a bit small. Facilities are a bit limited (they could have a sauna for instance).

Everything. We enjoyed drinks at the bar and chatting with the bartender. We loved the breakfast. The lobby was beautiful.

We loved the hot tubs, but maybe someone could net them out in the morning?

Breakfast was included and was great, lots of options. Dinner not included and was very good. We liked that it had a game room, Pool tabel and games.

Was lovely. Had great warm tubs for soaking outside and the owners were very warm. Food was great and the rooms were clean and cost!

Breakfast choices were very good including freshly cooked choices The location by the river with views of the distant mountains and glaciers is lovely, and the bird life very interesting

Stuffed polar bear is a bit wierd

Breakfast is excellent. Dinner is good. Plenty of parking space. Welcoming staff.

Room is small. TV did not work. Hot tub baths are not private. Everyone can look at you.

Hotel Ranga is truly a one-of-a-kind place. From the moment we arrived, we felt genuinely welcomed — the owner personally greeted guests, there were welcome drinks, handwritten greeting cards, and even a direct phone line in the room to listen to Icelandic poetry! The hotel’s cozy, characterful design is full of thoughtful details that create a warm and memorable atmosphere. The staff were exceptional — always polite, helpful, and attentive, including the housekeeping team. Our bed was incredibly comfortable, with a variety of pillow types to choose from, and we were pleasantly surprised with a complimentary room upgrade. Having a private entrance directly to the outside turned out to be a very practical feature during our stay. The location was exactly what we hoped for: remote, peaceful, and surrounded by beautiful open landscapes — yet still well-placed for day trips, being about an hour from both Vík and iconic spots like Geysir, the volcanic crater, and one of Iceland’s major waterfalls. A quiet river runs near the property, and we often spotted swans drifting nearby — a lovely bonus. Breakfast deserves a special mention. The selection was impressive, but more importantly, every item was of excellent quality and clearly chosen with care. It’s rare to find a place where so much thought is put into every detail — from design to service to dining. We would absolutely return and can wholeheartedly recommend Ranga to anyone seeking a peaceful, atmospheric stay with outstanding service.

My wife thought sauna could be a nice addition.

Cozy rustic ambience with upscale dining and serene surroundings. Loved the hot tubs that are natural spring water and the wonderful included breakfast. Very convenient location near tour options.

Just need to lower the transition piece between the bedrooms and the bathroom bc it’s a tripping hazard.
