1. The location was great. 2. They had a delicious mousse plate as a welcome gift in our room. 3. The view from the room and breakfast area is great. But with a caveat.

1. Price and value: I wouldn't be calling the other points in my review out if not for the price per night that's comparable to the Ritz. Even by the eye-wateringly high Icelandic pricing standards, expectations would be for decent quality here, but unfortunately we didn't feel like they were fulfilled. 2. We paid for the mountain view room. The view is great, but there is an RV / Camping spot right under the mountain / hill which is meant to be the highlight of your room. You cannot really keep the blinds / french windows open to enjoy it for long if you cared for any privacy. 3. Vik's main attractions are the black sand beaches. We tried but inevitably dragged some beach sand into the room. The room was house kept the next day when we returned, but the sand remained as is. The sheets were somewhat folded and the towels refreshed, but the sand remained. The leftover dessert plate was still on the table as well (may be they thought we were still working on a two day old mousse)? The room also had a slight wet, dank smell. 4. Occasionally loud thuds that almost shook the bed and room. I'm assuming this was a heavy service door closing and opening or some such. It started early in the morning and continued. Woke us up. We were on the second floor so perhaps our luck of the draw with the room. 5. The included breakfast was just ok, with it missing salt and pepper shakers on the tables, no condiments like mustard or hot sauces anywhere in sight. Again wouldn't be an issue if it was a mom and pop value B&B.

Location and breakfast were good. The room was very clean. The game room (darts, ping pong, pool) was a welcome addition and our son enjoyed it. Room was small, but space was maximized and had everything you needed.

Very, very expensive for 2 adults and 1 child. Needed a fan, but they didn’t have enough for all rooms and had given the supply away already. No windows to open; only doorwall which blew in the wind.

The breakfast that we paid for was good. Staff at the hotel was exceptional! Very helpful when we needed assistance. Nice comfortable sitting areas to enjoy time with family.

The property is new and clean

I had an accident at the black beach: a wave knocked me over and I ended up soaked and dirty. I came back to the hotel an hour after check-out and they didn’t allow me to take a shower. When I asked for a hairdryer to dry my hair in the service bathroom, they even lied about the presence of a power outlet. Absolutely disgusting hospitality. And all this for more than 300 euros for a room and an absolutely standard service.

We had a corner room with glass doors to the patio and a huge side window to the street. It was awesome. The staff was so very nice. Especially enjoyed the sweet bartender, Marta who told us how and when to see the Puffins. Everyone was so nice and helpful. We were delighted with our room, breakfast, and happy hour.

What we loved the most was the atmosphere, the amenities, the aesthetics, the location, the amazing staff, and the delicious breakfast. We truly appreciated the complimentary room upgrade, the dessert, and the bottle of wine! Other hotels should follow the example of the standard set by Hotel Kría.

Our experience with hotel Kria was great. It was an easy check-in process, the staff was very nice! We had a great room with a view and easy access to the outside and breeze! We were able to leave our window open and it let in the best breeze. Breakfast was included which was awesome, it allowed us to eat and get on our merry way with activities! The view from the breakfast room was awesome as well! Would definitely stay here again and recommend to a friend. It was clean, the rooms were comfortable, beds were great, and bathrooms were great as well!
