How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

The only issue we experienced was the strong sulfur smell from the hot water. My son found it quite hard to tolerate and often felt unwell after showers. Interestingly, my friend stayed at another hotel in Iceland and didn’t have this problem, so I believe there might be solutions or installations that could help reduce the smell here as well.
We had a wonderful stay at this service apartment. The location is excellent, and it was very convenient to have a parking lot available. The room was clean, spacious, and comfortable, with a beautiful view. We especially appreciated the dark curtains, which made it much easier to sleep during the midnight sun. Overall, a great place to stay for family.

We had one of the smaller rooms and whilst adequate rooms like 601 were much more spacious and probably better for a longer stay. However, it might be difficult to justify the price.
The location was excellent and we found the facilities very good. It was very handy to the local supermarket and there is a very good restaurant in the same building.

Apartment needed some care and maintenance - towel hanger in the bathroom was broken, curtains in the living room disattached from hanger.

we have spent 5 days in Heimalega apartments using it a a base for Reykjavik and golden circle ...location is not close to Reykjavik center (15-20 min drive) but perfect for exploring the Reykjavik surroundings. Also, restaurant, bakery and Bonus supermarket are all within walking distance (2-3 minutes walk). Parking is free and with plenty of space all day. Also, apartments are close to nice lake&river with lot of options/paths for walking and fishing. apartments are relatively new, well equppied with shared laundry facilities

The apartment was very clean and everything was exactly as agreed. Great communication with the staff, everything went smoothly. There is a large parking area and the location is perfect if you’re planning to explore the surroundings rather than staying in downtown Reykjavik – an excellent base for trips. If I come back to this city, I will definitely choose this apartment again!

We paid for an extra 2 hours at check out and all the codes deactivated at 10am not 12pm. Caused a problem when my husband took some stuff down to the car and couldn’t get back in to the apartment. It was a good job I didn’t go with him.

The toilet door does not have a lock, which was not ideal especially when staying with kids/family.
The location was perfect for a short stopover in Reykjavik - we stayed for 1 night. The apartment is very near a grocery store and bakery which was convenient. Clean and as described online.

There were some items of the dishware missing ( two cups instead of four)

It would have been nice if they had made the sofa-bed for us. We had told them that we would arrive at the apartment after 2 am from the airport and that there were four of us. Although it was easy to make the sofa-bed, it would have been nice that this would have already been made for us. Also, if there was soap for the bathroom sink rather than just in the shower. Otherwise, the room was very nice.
The room was nice and clean. It was very comfortable.

Great location, very nice, clean and cozy apartment. All instructions were communicated on time and we didn’t have any problems with our check-in even we have arrived late/early in the morning. Great point to start your Golden circle tour!

It is a little far from the city center. Nevertheless, the location is quite convenint if you rent a car. It is in good location to access Kleflavik airport
Nice apartment with almost everything needed for a short stay. Very clean. We appreciate specially the free laundry with dryer.

Cost was a bit on the high side but not out of line with the going rate for that area and time. Would definitely book there again if I was traveling though that area.
Room was immaculate. Kitchen was clean and well appointed with tea, coffee and cooking utensils. Parking was easy and available. The room was quiet.

Could have done with a toaster!
Beautiful studio apartment in building overlooking mountains and lake, in industrial zone, but great for parking and easy access to city. Beds super comfortable and really nice furnishings and kitchen.

The apartment fully met my expectations in terms of both amenities and service. The room was tidy, and everything worked as I had hoped, making the stay smooth and without any unpleasant surprises.

It would have been nice to be able to turn the heat down a little, and the door key code pads took a while to get used to... But these are all VERY minor complaints, barely worth mentioning.
Some minor issues with our door code when we arrived, but these were solved almost immediately with a single phone call. Thanks!
